It seemed that Valeth's journey had brought him from one wasteland to the next. Regardless, after the fight with the winds in the Wind Flight lands in-between, he was more than eager to land on safe scorched ground.

"Ouch!" He hissed, finding the ground to be a whole lot rockier than the membrane-infested fields of the Scarred Wastelands. Regardless, he folded his wings messily and took a moment to catch his breath.

First of all, he had to figure out where he was so he could leave very quickly! There was no way he was staying here with this acrid heat that felt like it was going to melt him-it was no good for an ice dragon, not at all!

Luckily, he spotted a wildclaw, who was currently making her way over to him on the ground.

"Excuse me! Would you mind telling me where I am?" He called. The wildclaw slowed to a stop nearby. She was about half his size, so Valeth flashed his best smile and tried to stand still. The wildclaw didn't seem afraid of him, only looked him up and down and then gave an approving nod.





"Right near the largest volcano in the continent, you are!" She said, "Come come come!" She said, bouncing up and down impatiently as she waved him over with her front claw. Valeth snorted, what harm could following a tiny dragon do?

"My name's Valeth, who are you?" He asked.

"Thunder!" The wildclaw replied. From there, Valeth focused on trying to walk on the softest, coolest spots on the ground. He was certain that some of this ground was recently cooled lava!

Okay, he might have hesitated when he saw that they were going towards a sealed cave with ominous-looking gadgets spinning here and there, but when Thunder kicked the keypad and the door slid open, the rush of very cool air made him rush inside and breathe in deeply in relief. As if reading his mind, Thunder had a very large bucket of ice water with cactus fruit floating in it within moments. Valeth hesitated, Thunder laughed at him, and pulled down her face mask to take deep gulp of the drink.

"It's not poisoned, you see." Thunder told him rather smugly, and then stuck out her tongue, "Ugh, fruit. I made it with you in mind, not me."

Valeth quickly gave into the urge to drink, consuming the bucket within moments.

"Thank you. I felt like I was going to become a puddle out there..." Valeth sighed, and took a proper look around. The cave was more metal than rock, with all sorts of gadgets and equipment laying around in a organized half-completed chaos.

"This is my lab." Thunder explained, "I need an assistant, and I'd like to hire you."

"Ah, me? But I'm a traveler, not even a lightning dragon." Valeth protested.

"Not important. I need grunt work. I will feed you, shelter you, and do whatever in my power to satisfy your demands. However, in return you must stay with me for a few years." Thunder said.

"Y-years?!"

"Yes. You will be stronger in the end, and more suitable for whatever journey you have ahead. What do you have to lose?"

"My freedom, for one!" Valeth protested hotly.

"You are not fully grown. Barely out of your fledgling years! What do you want from your journey, young one?"

"I want to live somewhere ELSE than a wasteland, thank you very much."

"You'll find that even the most forested of areas are wastelands." Thunder said wisely.

Valeth frowned. "Listen, can I have time to think about it? I'm really tired..."

"Sure. Follow me."

And so Valeth was lead to a room with a large, knitted bed, a ice machine, and a light he could flick on and off if he wanted. There was also a table of various snacks waiting for him as well. He looked to Thunder, to the bed and snacks, and back to Thunder with his brow furrowed.

"If you need anything else or want to discuss your future plans, then press this button and speak into it." Thunder said, pressing said button. Her voice was broadcasted throughout the den: "Like this."

"Oh... thank you."

"Not a problem. Please do not wander, there is delicate equipment around." And so Thunder left him alone. Alone, Valeth gradually relaxed. He could open his door, drink all the water he wanted, and nibbled on the snacks. It wasn't so bad. Kind of like being royalty? Valeth puffed up at the thought, maybe he found some sort of haven? Maybe working for Thunder wouldn't be so bad...

And so, that was the story of how Valeth was persuaded into spending the rest of his childhood working in a Lightning dragon's lab, and some years there after trying to leave.

At first, of course, it was quite nice. Valeth was given lots of time off, he exercised by lifting heavy materials in intense heat that Thunder was gathering, and otherwise had rather engaging lazy conversations with Thunder.

But Valeth truly, truly, did not like the rocky hot wasteland, and found himself becoming rather dependent on the icy drinks that Thunder so readily provided him- he felt faint without them! He was an ice dragon, but Thunder did nothing to help him with his budding powers since she thought magic was unnecessary. He could only give out a misty breath in this sort of harsh weather.

Thunder had him by contract to stay only a few years, but then they struck new deals and thus lengthened the time Valeth stayed there. Valeth knew he owed a lot to Thunder- she practically raised him, he was very muscular from lifting so many things and very precise from trying not to knock important equipment over, and he had so much knowledge about systems that he could make other dragon's heads spin. Thunder even agreed to have some eggs with him, but then they were so busy with projects that their children were picked up and taken somewhere else by the clan to be raised.

"We should move the lab!" He suggested one day, excitedly, "Go somewhere that's colder, like the Lightning or Ice flight!"

"We are not leaving our clan." Thunder told him in a tone of finality, and that was when the rift truly began to form between them.

Thunder called it overtime. Valeth called it 'slave labor'. Although Thunder made sure to take care of him afterwards, she kept pushing and pushing Valeth until he collapsed. At this point, she was 1/4th his size, and Valeth tried to use this against her to threaten her back. He was TIRED of this!

They had a fight, their first truly serious one. Thunder not only displayed enormous strength for such a small dragon, but also made the entire lab blaze with lightning to make an electric cage around him.

"What... What?! I thought you said magic was useless!" Valeth cried, half-blinded as the air shook around him, frozen in place. He had NEVER seen Thunder display any sort of magic like this, especially not in such a controlled manner!

"Useless for you. Not for me." Thunder growled. She was lightning itself in the shape of a wildclaw before him. And for a moment, all was still.

"Are you going to hurt me?" Valeth asked shakily as his feathers and mane stood on end. The lightning wasn't coursing through him. Not yet.

Thunder seemed to wince, and then everything went black.

Am I knocked out? Valeth wondered, until he heard a gasp of shuddering breath. He blinked, once, twice, and a brief flash of an electric arc showed Thunder, her face in her claws and her wings drooped on the ground pitifully.

"What was I, just about to do? Valeth..." Thunder sobbed.



"Thunder, it's okay, we just got a little out of-"

"NO!" Thunder suddenly roared, and all the lights turned on in the lab at full blast, blinding Valeth who recoiled back. They then flickered on and off, and the gadgets and wires nearby thrummed and seemed to writhe in place, her voice thundering through her maw and the speakers around them, "I KNOW YOU'VE WANTED TO LEAVE FOR YEARS! LEAVE! BEFORE I CHANGE MY MIND AND MAKE YOU STAY FOREVER!"

The doors opened behind him all at once, and in a flurry of panic and despair, Valeth ran away from Thunder, through the entrance hall, and leapt powerfully off into the sky. Gasping for air, he looked back, but only saw the lab door slamming shut as if to seal Thunder inside.

Valeth flew, and didn't look back after that.

Valeth, the old man had became grumpier after that incident, the world seemed small and grey to him now. He flew over back to the Scarred Wasteland, the red wind bellowing below great black wings that seemed to block out the sun to those underneath him.

Yes…those underneath him. Valeth knew that this diseased place did not deserve his great presence, the lukewarm deep crimson lakes with never be touched again by his scales, tears began to pour from his face. He did not know if his heart would ever heal.

Valeth went the forest to spend time there and he had found out that there's a kingdom in there. He went to the kingdom to explore it. Will his heart would be heal here from that terrible incident. He had find out there is a clan's leader here and want to meet the leader here. He came to the place where the clan leader lives.

Valeth went inside and finally saw the clan's leader. It was a female skydancer and she looks pretty. Valeth felt like run away. But, he just stay still and look proud. Then, he said " My name is Valeth, I'm here to visit your kingdom and what is your name ?"

The leader look at Valeth and said " My name is Queen Rarecreature and I'm the clan's leader/Queen here."

" It's nice to meet you Rarecreature and will I be available stay in your home for my visit " said Valeth.


" Sure you can, there is a room here for you to stay in and I hope you enjoy your stay " said Rarecreature.
" Thank you " said Valeth as he try to smile. Rarecreature give him a look and start taking him to his room. In Valeth's mind, she doesn't act like Thunder does when I first meet her and I wonder how my stay here will heal my heart. She look nice then Thunder...maybe I.... " Okay we here, here is your room does it look nice ?" said Rarecreature. Valeth looks inside his room and see it was pretty nice. It was just as he wanted to be nice and cozy. " Oh thank you and I love my room. " said Valeth. " Okay, I will leave you be and if you want something just let me know " said Rarecreature as she starts to leave. Valeth look around his room and he found out he loves his room. He may have found a way to heal his heart and he went to sleep.

Valeth woke up and he wanted to spend time with Rarecreture. So, he went up to her and said " Would you wanted to join me on a walk to the waterfalls ? " " Sure and I will show you around " said Rarecreature. So they start walking to the waterfalls, " Wow, I can't believe the waterfalls are lovely here " said Valeth as he smile. " Yes they are lovely, even the flowers, the trees, lakes, and everything here is lovely " said Rarecreature. " Aw flowers " said Valeth as he smell the flowers. " Aw choo " said Valeth. But, the petals flew everywhere around them. Rarecreature laugh " I think you got some on you. " Valeth give a little shake. " Did the petals came off " he said. " No, you got one here " said Rarecreature as she took the last petal off from his ear. Valeth felt like he enjoy his time with Rarecreature and the day came to the end. But Valeth ask if can he eat his dinner with Rarecreature and she agree. Rarecreature told him that she can change forms like to be an Aether and others. Valeth was surpised and he told her that his heart is not heal. After, Valeth went to his room with a smile and wonder if it is time tale Rarecreature that he is in love with her. So, he went to sleep and tell her tomorrow.

He woke up and went to Rarecreature. " Could I talk to you about something " said Valeth. " Sure you can and let go to the waterfalls " said Rarecreature. They went to the waterfalls and Valeth's mind keeps on saying it's time. " So what did you want to talk about " said Rarecreature. " I'm fell in love with you Rarecreature and I think my heart finally heal. I know it is a few days, but, you know. I want you to my wife and have hatchlings together. " said Valeth. " Okay, I would love to " said Rarecreature as she give him a hug.

A day later, Rarecreature starts to have the eggs which is two eggs in her nest. Valeth couldn't wait to become a better father to his kids.

Few days later, the two eggs finally hatch and Valeth got two skydancer sons. " What should we name them ? " asked Valeth.

" Would you like to name them ?" said Rarecreature. Then, one of the male skydancer came to Valeth and he look at him. The male skydancer has red color wings and a grey with little bit sky blue color on his body. " Hello my son " said Valeth as he look at his son. " I think we should name you Rarefang " said Valeth. " That sounds nice name for him " said Rarecreature. " Also, I think we should name our other son Winternight. " said Valeth. " I agree too " said Rarecreature. " Maybe later, we will have more kids and then I will name our future son right after me " said Valeth.

One day, he was watching his lovely sons and he forgotten that he is a traveler. But, he decided it was time for him to make this place his home. He never tell Rarecreature and his two lovely sons that he had a very badly incident that he didn't heal his heart. But, that doesn't matter to him and long as they don't know about it.
