Senka never felt right being in her home lair. She was never bestowed a name-of-meaning (a rite of passage and source of pride in the Rose Clan) or given a mate (not like she had the desire for a mate, however). She often spent her days wandering the Tsumani flats long after her clan moved to a bigger and better lair. Sometimes she would even wander into other realms. She never got far though, as she was always angrily brought back by one of her clanmates. It's not that they didn't want her to leave, but a dragon must always benefit the Roses if they move on, whether it be to serve the Tidelord or make a deal with a different clan. There were a few rare cases when one of her clanmates would leave and the clan did not benefit. It was often to help start a new lair or done in goodwill, with the expectation of friendship and future dealings.

Now that it has been over two years since she hatched Senka felt her heart stir more than ever to leave the place she has called home all her life. She had few ties left to the clan, as she was never close to her father (a dragon who wandered into her clan) and her mother, Silk, decided it was time to join the Tidelord. She and her sister, Aysu, were never close either as they came from different clutches a few months apart. The only dragon she will regret leaving is her grandmother, Abran, a traveling seer and merchant who decided to make her final home with the Rose Clan. Although Abran had lost the desire to travel the world, she had passed it on to her grandaughter Senka. It was Abran who told Senka to leave in the dead night when no one would notice until she was long out of the clan's grasp.

And so, she left, hoping to find new adventures and friends along the way. Maybe one day, she'll return to the Roses and be able to tell her grandmother all about her adventures.

The first Clan she came to visit was Alligator Clan, a Lightning Flight clan that lived in the Desert of Shifting Expanse. There was a huge castle in which dragons of high rank lived. Alligator Clan had never heard of The Rose Clan and she was the first from her home clan to visit the Lightning Flight Embassy in Alligator Clan. Every dragon in the Lightning flight wore a standard of their flight. Senka, on the other hand, did not have one. There were no standards available for Water Flight. Her first night In Alligator Clan was not so bad, but the days were hot and the nights were cold. Most of the dragons liked to party and Senka knew that she did not feel at home in Alligator Clan anymore than she did in Rose Clan, so she decided it was time for the next chapter of her journey, so she returned to the Dragons off the see the world Thread.

Senka wandered for a time, in a daze, the places blurring together into a mess of stray moments and colors. She returned to awareness on what she thought was her second trip to the Shifting Expanse--but she couldn't be sure, after all.

She arrived in the Sanctuary, an outpost near the edge of the Expanse, and a hotspot for travelers like her. The dragons there were very welcoming, and everyone seemed to work together for eachother's benefit. Something lit within her.

In the first few days within the clan, Lenka formed a connection with Leia, a strong-willed mirror. She dragged Lenka around the Sanctuary, showing her the sights and making her feel at home. Leia showed the pearlcatcher some tips and tricks of hunting, after learning that Lenka was a traveler, which would be very helpful for her when she was journeying. They were fast friends, and before Lenka knew it, a month had passed by. She began feeling the itch to continue on; as lovely as her stay had been, she knew she was a traveler at heart. The two of them parted amicably, with a promise to catch up if they ever crossed paths again.

To think, she'd be back again so soon. After a bit of traveling up north, Senka flew on down, back to the Sanctuary for a spell. She hadn't felt much need to go far, and something drew her back to the Shifting Expanse. Maybe it was instinct. Maybe she just wanted to say hello to her friend once more.

Leia and Lenka spent a few days catching up, and enjoying the Thundercrack Carnivale. Then, the pearlcatcher was off once more, determined to explore farther than she ever had before.

senka stumbled into meeting makoto and gooseberry much by accident, having stepped into the bounds of their farm on the shattered plain without realizing. it wasn’t until she registered the fields of crops and the herd of goats that it clicked in her mind that there should be someone else here- proven a moment later by gooseberry’s appearance at her side. (nearly startling her out of her scales, if she’s being quite honest. it’s a bit worrisome to blink and find a large gaoler at your side. her beaming grin did little to temper the shock of it. from makoto’s fondly exasperated sigh, it wasn’t the first time she had done so.)

regardless, the two friends were happy to slide her a cup of tea and inquire about her travels. makoto was quiet, certainly, but gooseberry made up for his more subdued personality with sheer enthusiasm. by the end of the conversation, senka thought the farmer must have asked every question there was to answer about her journeys. she asked some questions of her own, of course: the two dragons were part of a larger clan not too far away, songbird keep, known for its dedication and influence in the bardic arts. although not one for music herself, the residents were putting on a rather raucous celebration of the thundercrack carnivale, and the din of lute music and song could be heard across the distance of the plains. after a visit and overnight stay, senka was off the next day with as much fresh produce and traveling provisions her satchel could carry, gifted in goodwill by the many dragons she’d encountered. she hummed the echoes of festival music that twisted through her brain, catchy and easily brought to mind even days later on the trail.
