VIRION
liaison & entertainer
"quote"

a sometimes charming, mostly cranky traveler with an unsettling vibe
•••
Originally of plague, Virion was at odds with the rest of his nomadic warband almost from the moment he was born. A natural inclination towards dishonesty coupled with the ruthlessness taught by the leaders led to him robbing, swindling or otherwise inconveniencing almost every member of their group to get things he wanted at some point. This was, of course, when they weren't off ruthlessly annihilating other clans or barely surviving in the wastelands.

Eventually things reached a boiling point, as Virion's quest to serve only himself led to a fear of the wasteland exile imposed on the disagreeable members of the warband. One night, while the rest of the group rested before a great battle, he proceeded to take most of the contents of their hoard and sabotage their armor as a final f-you to his unpleasant, brutal upbringing before fleeing as far away from the wastelands as possible.

A born performer-- a trait previously only exhibited through skillful lying-- Virion was able to make a living doing anything from singing to street magic in cities across the land for several years. Well aware of his own beauty and ability to turn on the charm, he became something of a hustler. While tips for performing were fine in the day, at night Virion could be found luring unsuspecting souls into dark corners where his plague upbringing would come in handy, leaving them at least alive (if he was feeling generous) but without any valuables or dignity.

Drifting from city to city got old after a while, especially as nasty rumors of a shifty-but-handsome Imperial followed him everywhere he went and made settling harder and harder. Eventually, bored and on the run from yet another local law enforcement body, Virion found himself back in the wastelands he'd come from. Knowledge of local plague clans made it easy for him to branch out, pushing buttons to allure himself to leaders so he could get in and rob them as he'd done in the past.

Unfortunately, karma arrived to make Virion pay for his ruthlessness in the form of his old warband stumbling on him as he trekked across the wasteland. This was one situation he couldn't wiggle out of-- overpowered easily, Virion was mauled within an inch of his life and dumped in the middle of nowhere. Left with no belongings of his own in an appropriate parody of his own methods, he figured it was a toss-up between starvation and succumbing to his injuries.

A third option arrived, much to his surprise, in the form of a timid, medicinally-trained Skydancer and an unsettling Spiral. Still recovering, with several sects of law enforcement on his tail and with everything taken from him, he really had no choice but to go with the pair, and thus ended up a reluctant co-founder of a haven for wayward dragons.

Now acting as informal second-in-command and with a leader who, in his opinion, is unable to lead effectively, Virion considers himself to have free reign to do what he likes. Acting as a fugitive merchant trader fleeing from the brutality of plague, it was almost laughably easy to ingratiate himself to the Skydancer who'd saved him and establish himself as an envoy to nearby cities. "All in the interest of spreading the word", he claims, though in actuality he's settled happily into his old ways. If anyone wonders about the things he returns from his travels with or his place in the haven, his origin and the sometimes-ominous vibe he gives off are enough that none of them have brought it up so far. Whether he plans to eventually leave the haven with the same treatment he'd given his first clan is still up in the air, but for now, he seems happy enough keeping any schemes he has on the backburner.
