Retch is the malevolent broodmother of the entire clan. Exiled from her own and forced to wander the plaguelands on her own, she initially intended on just finding a quiet place to waste away. Her own greed ended up getting her black-listed by her own clan as well as their allies. Without any other place to go, she was forced to run into foreign territory to survive. Depressed by her sudden turn in fortune and unable to see any possible future for herself, she wandered aimlessly until she happened upon an Egg Ditch.
Egg Ditches, big gaping gashes in the earth where eggs from all over where abandoned by those who did not want them. Egg Ditches weren't commonly seen close to clan territory. Those that were ended up being purged of the foreign entities and renovated into clan land. Unwilling to walk any further, she settled in the Egg Ditch. Lonely, she attempted to incubate and hatch the eggs that she had with her. Of course, some were left for far too long and had died before she had even reached the area. Others were taken or crushed by other predators while she was busy tending to others. Taking care of the eggs gave her purpose again, and in the back of her head, she realized that children were the first things that she could use to feed herself. Little, grateful minions that would hunt for her in return for her selflessness. As they grew older, their undying loyalty worked in her favor. Healthy and with her strength growing each day, she told her little dragons that this would be their new home. Going against tradition though, she decided to leave these Egg Ditches in place and instead hide their clan territory. This way, dragons from foreign clans would continue to dump their eggs here, for her to raise. Do not be fooled by her supposed generosity though. All of her actions are to benefit herself first and the livelihood of her newfound clan second. Traitors and those who question her are not tolerated. Cruel and brutal punishments have been dealt to those in the clan who have questioned her sanity and brutality. It is common for clan-members of all ranks and ages to have some sort of scaring, bruising or bleeding at one point or another. |

All of Retch's actions are dictated by the stability of the power structure and the livelihood of the clan she made. Paranoid of the dragons around her, she does not tolerate insubordination, questioning or even the hint of betrayal. As such, her punishments are swift and often cruel.
She believes that those who do not like it can leave, though she would never willingly let any dragon leave her clan unharmed. Such individuals would undoubtedly become future threats if they joined other clans, in her mind. Often, they will be hindered or placed in a position that makes it incredibly difficult to leave. Those below her fear her or look up to her as a symbol of strength. Those who are close enough to actually understand her, realize how easily manipulated she really is. |
