AZARIAL
"My talent? Being one step ahead."

Did you forget that love was dangerous?
Azarial had always had a deep motivation inside him to become someone that would be known amongst the thousands of Sprite Falls--and namely, people whose opinions actually mattered. He was born to two pure lineages of light bloods. Both parents were involved in politics in some way. They were the picture perfect family for a while but Azarial knew better. He knew how often they fought and how often they ignored him. By 16, Azarial was both a troublemaker--and a beloved student--at his high school. He joined as many clubs as he could--obsessed with staying away from home and around people that would actually give him attention.

As years past, Azarial's ambitions twisted and morphed into something more self-serving. He went to a simple college to get an associate's law degree. It was also around this time he started escorting. He first started out non-exclusive, but as months passed, he learned he was much more successful with the men. So naturally he joined a 'men's only club.' And as years passed...well..now he's arguably the most popular male escort. He certainly would say he is. Some even speculate that it is in part the reason he won the election a year ago. So many people knew his name and if they didn't, one of their friends would. After all, in addition to escorting, he modeled and even starred in various movies. And so, despite others having better qualifications, the people's majority vote was Azarial. It was said they saw the public image in him. They saw someone on the outside of politics and so, he became one of the Elected Representatives of the People. His job? To basically provide his opinion to the court amongst various topics as the 'public voice.'

He's rather loud in the court room, and not afraid to say taboo things. He even tries to get the old, grouchy men of the court to loosen up. Or even the young and serious ones. This behavior has made most of the court dislike him--to which they don't know--he is smug about. He is still escorting despite no longer needing the money. But that is where his first regret of his life began. Unbeknownst to him, one of his court peers purposely sent someone with a vial of Shade into the men's club to infect him. Azarial didn't even feel the shot while they were cuddling, having been numbed by a special lotion the man prompted to massage him with.

A month later and Azarial noticed it in his wing feathers first, the base of them were a shadowous color instead of his usual bright, pearly white. He wrote it off at first...but as it spread and the hairs on his human head also started to turn...he knew. He knew what it was, but didn't know how he got it.

At first he instinctually worried, but then he remembered one of the main side effects...more power. There was a particular hop in his step the day that he felt the beginning of the flow of the new power. Though he had taken so much morphine that he could have stubbed his toe and still kept his smile. The court member who had been the cause of this was confused, but it was soon that he realized why Azarial didn't seem upset. Azarial had dreamed of having more power for years and now he had it. Little by little. Day by day. He welcomed the Shade. However, as the outbursts of rage began he recoiled back a bit, trying to force himself to learn how to control it.

But there is no controlling it. Only a few in history have, and thus The Shade was made one of the highest threatening diseases. The way it causes people to be chaotic and mad when their emotions get the better of them. The way the magic destroys what it touches--almost worse than the plague blood's magic. And for Azarial who had always wanted to be the best light mage...well...now he has other ideas.
