 They say he was born of the volcano. That he was a bad omen, sent to warn the dragons of impending doom, of a great tragedy waiting to be suffered. He was the indicator of a bleak future. With scales like ash, wings that blew smoke when they beat, and fire hot shards of pure lava encrusted into his form, the other dragons actively avoided him, petrified at the sight of silver and vermillon flying their way. They were afraid of what his mere existence might mean for their kind, and didn't care enough to figure out the truth. This was what they knew, is what they were told, and they didn't want to know any different. It was the way.

At first, Cen could not accept what he was, who he was, shunned even by his own family. He isolated himself from the other dragons, hoping that perhaps if he stayed away they could forget him, and what his birth meant for the locals. But he could not hide forever.

It was years before Destiny found him.

Alone, living in a tiny hole carved into the side of a dormant volcano, hungry and lonely, barely capable of moving, let alone speaking.

But destiny did not run, did not judge him. No, he smiled at Cen, and he offered him a home within their clan. At first the other dragons were skeptical that he was safe. They took some time to adjust, and the local menders prepared barriers to protect him from the ice, and stop his heat from melting the snow and endangering their homes. He thrived, and even made a friend in their firey representative, a dragon who let him in and showed him a world he never thought was possible.
