Biography
Gath Wyrmwound
Captain + Stronghold + Plague Gath wrote:
"We are alive because our enemies are not."
|
Gath grew up on the edge of the Wyrmwound, fighting for his life like all Plague dragons do. He learned at a very young age that to survive, one must be completely at peace with the idea of killing the opposition. Though surviving and thriving in the shadow of the Wyrmwound came naturally to him, he was never satisfied with being in one place. He yearned for adventure, to see Sornieth and learn how other clans and Flights survived in different conditions. So at a young age, he began to travel.
Hopping from one territory to the next, never really settling down with a clan, Gath became a master of adaption. He trained his eyes to see in the darkness of the Shadow forests and the gleaming light of the Light territories, his body to withstand the sweltering heat of the Ashland Wastes and the bone-chilling cold of the Frigid Floes. All the while he sharpened his combat and hunting skills under these wildly varying conditions. It was only a matter of time before his journey took him to the depths of the sea and, ultimately, to the Waveriders. By this time he was beginning to long for a home, believing himself to be nearing the status of apex predator, and he found that home within this clan as a respected Captain.
Gath took his skill at surviving and fighting in different conditions and turned it into his specialty within the clan. He leads a warband of two other dragons that perform inter-Flight recon, hunting, and general combat duties. This warband spends much of its time beating back the beastclans and scavenging for supplies, all while gathering intel on the different territories and the clans within them. He is close as kin with these two dragons, and would lay down his life for either one in a heartbeat.
In what little downtime he has, Gath tends to a small shrine to the Plaguebringer in his den. This little slice of home reminds him of his roots, something he thinks is very important after all the traveling he's done. The clan is happy to allow him to do this and he is happy to have found a clan that isn't fanatical about who worships what. Gath still answers to the clan's Oracles and respects the Tidelord, as his loyalty ultimately lies with the Abyssal Waveriders now that he lives with them.
About once a week, Gath reports to the clan Sybil, Morgan. He enjoys her company and finds that filling her in on what's happening in the clan is an almost soothing experience for him. It's like a ritual of habit for him - ascend to the shallow territories, enter the Sybil's lair, and lay out the relevant information piece by piece. He considers Morgan to be one of his closest friends.
