Maya

Maya was one of the first hatchlings born directly into the clan.
Although born into a family engulfed in practises of magecraft, Maya was intrigued by politics and law, devoting many hours at a time to tediously studying dusty scrolls.
Upon trying to calmly negotiate with their leaders, she was captured by encroaching plague clans and traded in to a prison in the Southern Icefields for weapons, weapons to be used against her own family...

Maya slowly padded over the mossy stones that fanned out under a great waterfall that lined the edge of her home territory. She slowly moved across the fallen logs and stones in the river with the grace of the flowing stream itself. Although she was tasked with driving out any beastclan beings from the home stretch, she felt her orb begin to softly fill with ecstatic energy and doubted any actual patrolling would come from the morning. She ran a silver claw through the sleek blades of water tumbling down from the Shrieking Wilds. The water's reflection however had other ideas, and from it's savage beauty Maya could see the grey glimmer of her handcuffs, cemented deep into her flesh. Maya leant slowly towards the wall of natural fury just so her antennae were skimming the surface blinding memories of the Southern Icefields flashed in her mind's eye. She exhaled a cold sigh as she felt a sharp movement behind her.

Ahazu jumped onto the log behind her, the tips of his plumage covered in a fine dusting of water droplets from the waterfall. "Beautiful, isn't it?" He echoed, absorbed in the splendour of the great landmark. "Yes... I've never seen anything like it before in my life..." Maya whispered as Ahazu moved towards the edge closest of the log. Maya sensed a warm, prickling energy flowing from the skydaner. Trying to ignore it, she gazed down at the waters below her, and to her surprise, was greeted with the diamond gleams of shoals of small fish. "We should probably be going now, don't especially fancy getting scolded at by Beserker again." "Ahazu, look!" Maya called over the roar of the waterfall. Ahazu spun around and perched next to Maya's resting place. "Enough to fill the bellies of the whole clan!" She said, eyes sparkling at Ahazu, who was gazing deep into her eyes. "I mean, the patrol was your job, i'm simply here to escort you." "And who else is going to protect me from the dangers lurking below the surface?" Maya laughed for the first time in months, and before she could move a muscle Ahazu plunged into the depths, knocking Maya off-balance and sending her tumbling into the icy waters below.

Maya spluttered as an eruption of bubbles descended from the shallow river. Maya thrust her head into the beams of sunlight and gasped for breath. As she hauled herself onto a mossy rock, throwing her chains across it to prevent her from being dragged out by the river. She watched as the larger male swiftly chased the small shoals of fish around, snapping at them occasionally, but always that bit too slow. She stifled a laugh and felt a tight feeling in her chest she hadn't felt for many years. Suddenly, Ahazu swiftly dove into the water and Maya jerked upwards. "Ahazu! Ahazu, are you okay?" Maya yelled, dashing underneath the thunderous waterfall, her heart racing like the furious river below her.

Suddenly, Ahazu burst from the fast-flowing river holding an enormous eel in his beak, scattering the light. Ahazu stumbled forward through the shallows of the river, crashing into Maya onto a mossy bank. Maya felt the wetness hit her chest as the larger skydancer, exhausted, collapsed on top of her, holding the still-squirming fish tight between them. Maya sharply exhaled and arched her back into the soft plant life. "You had me scared for a moment there." Mara softly said, placing a claw on the eel, feeling Ahazu's claw recklessly brush into hers. "I know how to take care of myself." Ahazu mumbled into her ear, a smile spreading loosley across his face.

'shoals of minnows darting through the water, catching the light every so now and then in a silver gleam of color. pausing midway up a rock climb and the rushing feeling that comes from looking down. biting into icicles and feeling them snap for it.'
