The Imperials are never seen apart. A little red ribbon is tied on Acanthus’ tail, around Silence's neck and Rapture's torso. The guardians know of love, of a devotion so powerful it feels like dying and coming back, and so they nod in silent understanding. The others don’t, and they wonder why the Imperials' tails are twined together, why the ribbons drip fresh crimson on the ground.
Why, if their bond is so pure, they are warned against too many Imperials in one clan.


Acanthus is one of three heads of the Emperor known as Heaven, and seems to maintain the most decorum out of all of the heads. Due to the frost covering his scales, the parts of the Emperor usually under his control are easily distinguishable from the rest of it- and they move with delicacy, almost tentative fear.
