In the beginning, there was only the Land and the Keeper. Every day, she sprinted the boundaries of Dragonhome, keeping the BeastClans at bay. Alone. It was just her, the sky, and the stone eternal beneath her ever-running feet. Through storm, through snow, she endured. She continued her journey every day, every week, every month, every year. Every century.

But then -- the arrival of the others. Suddenly Dragonhome was populated with clans everywhere, each with a claim to the small land it possessed. Soon there was no more wild earthen territory for her to roam and keep. She was no longer needed.

And so she left.

For years uncounted she moved from place to place, looking for a new location to keep, as was her ancient custom. But she was always in peril. Enemy flights and the BeastClans seemed determined to hunt her down, to chase this pesky dragon of Earth from their territory. She had left her home and her old life behind, but still she ran through storm and snow. Her experiences eroded her as a river erodes an ancient and crumbling stone. Would she ever truly have a purpose again?

One day, she stumbled through the dead shrubs of the Wyrmwound, just barely staying ahead of her pursuers. But she knew one thing as clearly as she knew her purpose: she was dying. There was no way she would ever escape this. It would be her last run. And so she fell to the ground, believing that she was useless and a pointless blip of existence.

But she wasn't, and she was about to be born again.
