Biography

SURSAL
beloved queen

Daughter of the matriarch Lutose and her husband Nebula, Sursal is the crown princess and designated heir to the prime government position of the Unchanging Sands. She's been a warrior like most of her clanmates for years, but was only recently named heiress. As such, it was no surprise her clanmates were happy to accept that one of their most reliable friends would be their ruler, but things were still going to be rough for her. Sursal hadn't even considered the ramifications of being queen for a long time...but it made sense, as her mother was growing old and seemingly dissatisfied with her position.

Shortly after Eithem arrived, he'd fallen head over tail for her...and sooner yet, they had a happy little nest of hatchlings. Neither of them were satisfied however. They felt...constrained, as though something, or someone, was missing. And then they met Thagimor. Sursal is almost constantly being cradled in the mountainous forms of her mates, when she's not out training that is. The one thing she loves more than her mates is the thrill of combat, her tiny body twisting and dancing effortlessly amongst the attacks of her foes. For a tiny little dragon, she's one hell of a fighter. Her acrobatics are beyond brilliant, and her abilities nigh unmatched. She assumes it was for that reason her mother chose her as the heiress, and has taken that position in stride. Sursal (and her mates) regularly seek the opinions and wishes of their clanmates as they form their plans for when she ascends the throne.

She knows, however, that as long as her mother remains the one in power, their clan will suffer a terrible downfall. Something is wrong, something that she hasn't even been trusted to know despite being the sole heiress. Sursal was told that her sister Pamenta died years ago, but her heart has always told her that it wasn't true. She also figured things were falling apart when she caught wind that her mother, who'd previously clutched her power so tight it was as though she was a pearlcatcher and their pearl, handed over a large portion of legislative power to the Council, who had previously just been little more than diplomats.

Her father had also forsaken his political position in the name of focusing even more on his healing arts, leaving her mother the sole dragon at the top of the pyramid. While Sursal respects his decision, she still fears for what this could mean for their clan. Lutose's governing style worked fine when they were little more than 30 dragons aimlessly wandering about the Shattered Plains, but now that they had settled down in the Greatwyrm's Breach and reached a population nearing 70 and rapidly expanding, that wasn't going to cut it anymore. It's hard for her to express her worries for the rest of the clan in public without coming off as power-hungry and desperate for the throne.
