Personality
Wily and hotblooded, Praeceps will pick a fight with just about anyone. Since being injured when her ship was attacked by military, she's become even angrier - a defense mechanism, and a coping mechanism. She had family aboard the ship, among them an older brother and an older sister who sank beneath the waves to answer their new god's call.
She's grateful to the dragons of the Luminarium, but she'll never admit it. Instead, she spends her time lurking in the farthest reaches of the observatory, hiding from Notos and the others. If anyone gets too close, they usually come away with a stinging bite wound, and Praeceps inevitably slinks off to find somewhere else to hide.
The pirate is restless, eager to return to the seas she now calls home, but the injuries in her legs and wings are severe. No one has said it aloud, but it's suspected that this young pirate may be crippled. If that's the case, she may never be able to return to sea. She dreads that outcome; her heart sings for the vast oceans, and it would break if she couldn't return.

Early Years
Praeceps was born in Dragonhome to a small Clan, but as she grew, so too did her dissatisfaction with the craggy, earthen domain. It seemed to her that there was nothing there for her, and so as soon as she was of age, she left, stealing away in the quiet of the night to find herself somewhere beyond the horizon.
Her journeys brought her to a port beleaguered by a crew of pirates, and she crept into the city, mingling with the crowds until at last she found herself in the pub that the crew had all but commandeered. Young and pretty, she had an easy enough time earning their favor, and they allowed her to sit with them and join their fun.
The captain was a bit of a braggart, and he had many tales to share with the youthful Imperial. On into the night, he continued, telling her of fantastic battles at sea, of vast treasures there for the taking for those bold enough to seek them, and of the many places and the curious dragons he had seen in his travels.
Naive still, she didn't know how to tell the difference between fact or fiction, so she listened eagerly, visiting the crew on a fairly regular basis.
Until, at last, authorities arrived in numbers great enough to oust the crew, and Praeceps settled into the port city, watching the ships come and go.
She learned much in her time in the port, but still it wasn't enough.
She gathered a crew of her own, commandeered a massive galleon, and took to the seas, a pirate in her own right, albeit young and inexperienced.
In her travels, Praeceps heard tell of two Imperials, brother and sister, born in Dragonhome, who now sailed the seas as pirates themselves. She'd heard her parents speak with disdain of two such wayward children, and, although it was a slim chance that the two famed captains were really her siblings, she set off to find the pair.
She found them.
Or, rather, they found her.
It was not the familial embrace she had naively expected, but a rather one-sided battle.
The Imperials launched a surprise attack on her ship, and they battled their way through her crew with remarkable ease.
Fate worked in strange ways, it seemed.
Just as Praeceps found herself pinned beneath the brown-eyed pair, there came an unmistakable cry from the decks of both ships.
Military ships were heading towards them.
Panic set in, and dragons scattered across the decks, the two crews moving seamlessly as one. They could kill each other later, but for now, a common enemy had spotted them both with their proverbial pants around their ankles.
The crews fled as quickly as they could, and when they finally lost their pursuers, they collapsed on the decks, exhausted.
Now that they all had a moment to breathe, Praeceps found herself subject to a once-over by the rival captains. She asked them if they recognized her parents' names, and when they confirmed, she told them that she was in fact their younger sibling.
Then the female snorted, calling Praeceps ignorant and explaining that they had heard that she was looking for them. Family or not, they were captains of rival pirate crews, and that made them enemies.
Praeceps scoffed. After all, it was good to have allies at sea, and she'd hoped to bolster her crew's strength by befriending them.
Hours passed while the siblings debated.
By nightfall, the two ships had formed the beginnings of a small fleet., with the three captains agreeing to an alliance.
After all, her brother reasoned, blood is thicker than water.
The small fleet sailed for some time, gaining notoriety as they went, until they'd accumulated quite the bounties on their heads.
Until at last came the day the fates finally turned on them.
Military ships closed in on them, and cannonballs and spells began flying.
As hard as they fought, there wasn't a way out of this scrape. First one ship and then another sank beneath the waves, leaving only a few survivors clinging to the drifting debris.
Praeceps watched as her siblings sank beneath the waves to answer the call of their new god the Tidelord, and pulled her frayed, bloodied wings close around herself, trying to make herself seem as small as possible so that the military would miss her - if they pulled her from the wreckage, she knew she was destined for the noose.
Her gamble paid off, and they left her adrift, having missed her form among the floating rubble. When the ships were gone, she began to swim, using her mangled hindlegs and her powerful tail to push herself through the water.
She was lucky; the ships had gone down near a popular shipping lane, and she was picked up by a passing merchant ship who believed her when she told them she only bore an unfortunate resemblance to Captain Praeceps, and that her ship had sunk in an attack launched by pirates.
When they reached port, she was taken to a doctor, who mended her as best he could and then set her loose to wander the port.
She didn't go far. Homeless and without coin to pay her way, she lived on the streets, and eventually she fell ill without the medical care she needed; her wounds festered and worsened despite her best efforts to care for them.
A Mirror found her and brought her back to her lair - an observatory called the Luminarium, ignoring the vitriol Praeceps spat at her.
Despite her protests, Praeceps settled in well enough, planning only on staying long enough to recover before she vowed to leave again.
She's been living in the Luminarium since, hoping for the day she'll be able to leave.
