Why should I apologize for the monster I've become?
No one ever apologized for making me this way

Shadetree was abandoned by her parents shortly after birth, due to the black marks streaked through her body and the decay present in her wings and face. Most dragons believe that marks like hers indicate that she was "shade touched", but the Akeva clan - being a home for outcast dragons - took her in as their own. The holes and marks on her body cause her no pain, but they do make her stand out in a crowd - something she relishes. She wears neither clothes nor armor, preferring to let others see her and judge her for all that she is.
She grew quickly once she was taken in by the clan, and began to look and act like an adult wildclaw long before she was done growing. In addition to her longer legs and sharper claws, she began to catch her own food and spend more time on her own, and she prides herself on her battle and hunting prowess just as all wildclaws do. Then there are her parents, as she grew - so did her rage against them. Shadetree is still respectful of her elder clanmates and loves Cali and Peeta for giving her a change, but there is something dark within her.
On her first trip to the Coliseum, she encountered a small chipskink smiling at her - and she immediately attacked the creature, thinking it to be a challenger. Her clanmates merely laughed as she wrestled with the little animal, however, and she soon realized that the chipskink was not scared of her or attacking her, it just wanted to play. Shadetree was immensely embarrassed and nearly killed the creature for causing this feeling, but, as she looked into its eyes (so similar to her own) and saw its dopey smile, she felt a new kind of shame. Thus,the chipskink lives and Shadetree has learned to think before she attacks.
When Bumble and Peeta left, Shadetree took it very personally - it brought back memories of her own parents abandoning her. She begged Bumble to stay and, when he refused, she nearly resorted to a more forceful method of getting her way. Instead, though, she merely ran from him, and stayed in the darkest corner of the lair until he was gone. When Peeta left, she could barely even bring herself to be angry, she merely went back to her corner and wondered why those she loved most left her. Now, she has resolved herself to the fact that they are gone and, like Cali, she prefers to focus on what she has rather than all she has lost.
Being that she is one of the toughest and most vicious dragons in the clan, Shadetree is tasked with teaching new fighters and hunters, and with accompanying Cali on forays to the coliseum. Though she is a fearsome sight to behold at first glance, she treats all recruits with respect and expects them to do the same. Unbeknownst to most, she has a soft side - which comes out only when with her mate, Mahvo (they love to cuddle). When hunting or fighting, they create an unstoppable tag-team of destruction, and Mahvo is the only one she trusts to fight or hunt with.
