ECLIPSE » Keeper of the Library

Eclipse is a studying mage, practicing support magic. He's very curious of the great wide Sornieth and loves to learn. He is often found inside the library, rarely leaving Putris Silva so he can forever practice the grueling upkeep of his home.

He runs the large-scale library inside the hollowed bulk of the Gnarlrot Tree, tending to the thousands of tomes found within. He is also in charge of keeping the tree together in his off time, his cured tree sap building upon decades of ritualistic fae work.

GENE DISASTER! chapter . II

After years of tending for the Gnarlrot Tree and its library confined within at the heart of town, Eclipse the Fae is given a vision of the Plaguebringer, weakness blistered into strength, and new beginnings for the librarian...

Eclipse came quickly out of his meditative state—small, webbed wings catching him as he sinks through the open levels of the library. There's an urgency in the vision he's seen. The Plaguebringer beckons him beneath the earth, into the rotten crumbling soil where dangerous dragons with little allegiances to above-ground Putris reside. But he has to make the traverse to answer the beckoning call of destiny.

He flies into a small room—one only a fae could find comfortable and collects essentials he may need. Food, a book of useful spells and inscribed tokens—bones, rocks, wood—to perform them, and a large waterskin. He didn't know how far he'd have to go, nor how long he'd be inside the tunnels of Dritis Trou. The library would be okay without its head librarian for long; Eclipse had promising proteges who had been diligently tending to the tree in recent months. He wouldn't tell them where he was going. No one could follow him.

He strips his normal garb for a hood and cloak to keep him warm in the cold depths of the earth. He was small, and hypothermia was always a threat to Fae. Not many lived in Dritis Trou. Not many that he knew of anyway. Eclipse leaves his room and exits from a large hollowed knot at the East-facing side of the tree and floats down to the roots. Small gaps that dragons have to slither into offer the only entrance and Eclipse is grateful for thinking to change. Warm crumbling dirt quickly gives way to smoothed tunnels well-traveled. His eyes adjust to the darkness and he gains more confidence as he grows used to the feeling under the pads of his feet and paws.
Time starts to melt away as Eclipse tries to focus on feelings. The tunnels' shapes are changing into large paths with roots growing through rooms in between to small squeezes down. He lets the Plaguebringer guide his path. He must trust her.
It may have been half a day before Eclipse meets a dead end. He's certain it's a test, paws spreading over the wall and exploring its crumbling face. It's intermixed with rock—strong—he can't break through like a Snapper or Guardian might.
He opens the tome he brought along, illuminated by holding his swirling breath in his hand. Pages flip quickly and the sound echoes in the tunnel as Eclipse searches.

ECLIPSE'S LORE KEY chapter . I

Approaching a thick wooden desk on the floor of the hollowed tree, a bell with the label 'Ring for assistance' in Draconian and listed below in varying native tongues. After ringing the bell, a Fae appears, clothing floating around his aura. A tassel on his tail clicks against the desk as he rests on top of it, peering down at the traveler behind a skull fashioned out of a bird's skull, perhaps a dodo. He presses the skull up with three-fingered paws, eyes a bright, intimidating red.

"What can I help you with?"

Who are you? Eclipse is your guide for any general information on Putris Silva. He will direct you where you need to go. If you are seeking out any specific literature from the library, he can also help you in that department. Though he seems to sense your overall curiosity about the town as a newcomer.

"Introductions aside, anything else?"

What is Putris Silva? Putris Silva is a trading town located on the edge of the Rotrock Rim. It consists of a trading hall, a large tree that serves as the landmark as well as the home for important dragons and information, a series of tunnels that lead to a den far underground with another clan of dragons, & a surrounding forest of rotten foliage with wandering creatures. If you search through other dragons, you will find more specific expertise in these areas.

"Well, I might be running out of answers, but if you have any other questions I can spare another explanation."
