Biography

[BASIC INFO]

Kalira hatched many years ago under the watchful eye of the full moon. While most Undertides dive after hatching, Kalira did not. Her egg had gotten hung up in the corral near the cliff where the Moonportal stands. She breaks the surface, tasting the air around her as she looks at the moon high above her. She found a strange comfort in the vast abyss above her, the millions of twinkling lights stare back along with the moon until she finally can ignore her instinct no longer and decides to dive.

[LORE]

Kalira's curiosity keeps getting the better of her. Despite everything in her mind telling her to stay hidden in the cool dark waters, she keeps finding herself resurfacing to look at the strange clouds above, wondering what it would be like to swim through them. She chases strange creatures in the waters, fish of all shapes and sizes. She quickly learns by swimming with all her might into a wave, she can launch herself out of it, teaching herself to fly long before most Undertides learn the skill.

Caiatis tries his best to stay hidden, only coming out to feed. Eventually his hatchling-like urge to learn gets the better of him, and he surfaces. He swears by Lightweaver herself, he seen a dragon just like him flying. She couldn't have been much older than him, yet she flies with as much ease that he swims! He too learns of the trick to launch himself from waves, and quickly catches on to this whole flight thing as well.

Niether Caiatis or Kalira had any business flying yet. They could hardly even swim as well as an Undertide should be able to with no one to teach them, let alone flying! However Caiatis learns it anyways. If nothing more, than to meet this strange flying dragon he sees now and again. The gift of flight brings many new choices. The two of them make their way into the Sea of a Thousand Currents, quickly learning it is an excellent place to fish. Caiatis hadn't seen the strange other dragon is weeks, at this point he figured she had been eaten, or perhaps simply left. He could not have been more wrong.

Early one morning, Kalira was enjoying the waves along the beach just north of the Tsunami Flats. She couldn't help but notice the strange birds nesting just off the shore line, and letting her curiosity get the best of her, she allows herself to drift ashore. The birds quickly take notice to her, squawking warnings and threat displays to tell the dragon to back off. Even as a young dragonet, she could easily eat one if she wanted. However there wasn't just one, there were hundreds easily! Though she had no interest in eating one (she had just had a couple delicious Everglade Lashers that morning), the birds didn't seem to care. She soon learned of the dangers of disturbing the nesting groups of Coastline Sawbeaks as they all take to the air in a 'saw swarm', Their razor sharp beaks slicing at her fins and head and back as she desperately tries to get drag herself back to water (this whole 'walking on land' thing was still a work in progress).

Luckily for her, Caiatis was nearby and seen the swarm. He gets closer to investigate and sees Kalira now curled up in a ball, trying desperately to use her poisonous spines as defense against the angry birds, with very little luck. Caiatis launches himself from the water, clamping his jaws down on one of the unlucky birds. He throws it aside as he loops in air to turn back around. The flock had turned its attention to him, allowing Kalira to make her escape back to the safety of the waves. Once she was safe, Caiatis easily out flies the birds and dives back into the water himself.

The rest is ancient history. The two are inseparable every since, even starting their own clan. Though they no longer lead the clans day to day, they still hold a valuable job of watching over the clans young when parents are unable to. After all, they would have given anything to have had someone to teach them the things they needed to know when they were little, so they gladly take on the mantle to teach the young of the Fallen Leaves clan everything a dragon needs to know!
