{ The Collector }

Defender of the Clan | Meticulous Keeper of Collectibles | Brooding

R is a mystery to the clan. He doesn't speak much, but seems very observant. Before the expansion of the Elsewhere Clan Territory, the boundaries could be seen from the lair. This was where the clan rangers found R, perched atop a boulder and simply watching the day to day activities of the Elsewhere dragons. Upon being approached, he made no move to harm, nor to greet. When asked for his name, he tilted his head and simply replied I'm...not sure. I think it started with an R, but that's all I have left. So, the name stuck. His gaze appears rather empty, though upon closer inspection there seems to be vast oceans of thought deep down.

A quirky dragon, it came as a surprise that the Clan Father chose him to fight for the lair. Unlike his fellow soldiers, R is better suited for long range tactics and often hides some ways away, sending air attacks hurtling towards unsuspecting enemies. When the clan embarks on long journeys that require the higher ranking officers to accompany the convoy as guards, it is R who is charged with the task of defending the lair. Many dragons might see this as dishonorable, but R seems to be quite content to do his duty as Guard of the Lair. He shares an off-beat sort of friendship with Nicholas, the Clan Scholar. This is mostly out of proximity, as R spends a lot of time reading in the library wherein Nicholas tends to the scores of tomes and scrolls.

He is a collector by nature, and broods over his personal hoard, often losing himself in thought. Aside from his own pearl, his prized possession isn't really a possession at all, but rather his albino hedgehog Familiar. Some of his clan mates speculate that it's because, when curled up, the critter resembles R's pearl. But for whatever reason, the Familiar accompanies R pretty much everywhere he goes. In his travels, R has had intimate relations and even sired clutches. However, his odd personality, makes any relationship a challenge. His silence can be alluring at first, but for other dragon species that thrive on communication, R is not a good match.

Next to nothing is known of R's past, and whether he cannot remember his hatchlinghood or simply refuses to talk about it is unknown to his clan mates. When he isn't inspecting his collection of trinkets and oddities, he can be found patrolling the territory. Since joining the Elsewhere family, the territory claimed and maintained by the Clan has grown substantially, so these patrols will often take days. Some of the more empathetic dragons have expressed concerns to R about the dangers of patrolling alone, but his only response is a shrug; on occasion he'll offer a polite, if not appreciative smile.

A running joke among clan members is that no dragon has ever seen R sleep. Some speculate that this is simply poor timing on everyone's part, that he does indeed sleep, mayhaps at odd hours. Although it does bolster the rumor, at any time of day or night, when a dragon visits R's chambers, he is always awake.
