Vitra has never quite been able to pin down the memory of where she came from, but that didn't trouble her much as she struggled to her feet in the middle of the Shifting Expanse's largely unforgiving highlands, only to find her wings iced over and chained. She can only assume that she was cast away from another clan with no memory of her home or charge. Luckily, the issue of the latter was swiftly fixed. She found a Mirror in a similar situation (if slightly more pleased with his current circumstance) lying next to her. He introduced himself as Bawx, and, without knowing where it came from, she introduced herself as Vitra.
The two eventually sought out a place for themselves in the Highlands that offered enough water and food to get by. Slowly, more dragons trickled in: Varis and Siyoh, a slight seer and her bemused acolyte; Biri, Perak, Andus, and Feier, first of what would become the Lancers, the Stormpikes' expert search-and-rescue crew; and more, and more, and more. Siyoh predicted each arrival with uncanny accuracy despite her flagging health.
Vitra has now found herself a surprisingly willing and capable matriarch. She rules the Stormpikes as fairly as she can, and she has learned that it's okay to make mistakes sometimes. It still hurts that three of her children stole away in the night to join the Stormcatcher's ranks without even being named, and it will hurt her forever, but she knows they know she loves them still.
