'Magic Guide'
Name-Giver: Brodheyv
High Mage
Lahaak came to the Tavern at a very young age, around the same time as Agvokun, though not because he was at a crossroads in his life as was the case for most of the other guests. Rather, the experimental magic he was trying out was far more powerful than he anticipated, and the residual magical energy briefly ruptured the veil between the physical and ethereal worlds. Intrigued by this new dimension, Lahaak did not even think twice before dashing into the rupture, only to watch it close immediately behind him. He suddenly found himself in a brightly-lit tavern, looking up from where he was lying disheveled on a dinner table at a handful of very startled dragons. Adjusting to life at the Tavern was very quick for Lahaak - he was eager to learn about the limits of Vahlokdozii’s abilities and this strange limbo between worlds. He became good friends with Agvokun, who shared his passion for learning about Vahlokdozii, and Sosdothur, who loved hearing about his dabbles into necromancy (though she seemed to take it a lot more seriously than he did). Brodheyv, the resident healer, taught him all she could about magic, but it became clear over time that his abilities far outstripped her own, and it wasn’t long before she ran out of tomes and lessons for him. She took on a new apprentice, Shulkun, who was far more interested in healing and light magic than Lahaak, so he gracefully gave up Brodheyv’s dutiful attention so the new spiral could be properly trained. Without a mentor, Lahaak took to traveling the world to find wise mages and rare tomes, voraciously learning all he could. During his travels he met an exiled Serthis, and after a very eventful evening he decided to return to the Tavern with Lahaak. Lahaak introduced him to the rest of the Clan as Smoliin - passion - and after a few weeks of tension (mostly from Krahdinok and Vedsahnir), he was accepted into the Clan. At first uncomfortable living among dragons, Smoliin quickly grew accustomed to their unusual ways of doing things and now a days can often be found doing what he loves most - napping and waiting for Lahaak to come home from practicing magic. Some years after Lahaak returned to the Tavern, a former lover of his visited with a young child in tow. He explained that they were Lahaak's child, and was showing a strong affinity to magic. He felt he wasn't the best teacher (or father) for Miiraad, and thought they would be better off in Lahaak's care. Lahaak agreed of course, and began teaching his child plague magic while Smoliin taught them illusions. |
