Biography
1500 ~ 1200 ~ 1200
Role: Familiar Tamer
Her act uses the largest and most unruly of beasts. Whether it be a showcase of the deadliest creatures in Sornieth or live tamings, if a show involves beasts Kylara takes part.
She's also in charge of tamimg beasts before allowing them to become companions to other dragons. She always makes sure the dragon receiving a creature is able to handle them, and works with them when things are difficult.
Though she is strong bodied and confident around her creatures, Kylara becomes much more reserved around other dragons. Despite this she thoroughly enjoys her work, and takes pride in being able to calm even the most irritable creatures.
--Dragons of Foxfire Circus, Kylara
Kylara was full of nervous energy as she followed the other two Imperials to the looming stone structure. Just a few days prior she'd been sharing small talk with the former gladiator currently leading them, the subject eventually turning to her fighting days. Kylara had been a bit uncomfortable as Ivy spoke of her matches before her opponents began to shift toward other dragons, but she'd promptly dropped her armful of halters as a worrying thought came to her.
"What happened to them?" She interrupted, and the other female gave her an odd look.
"Happened to...who?"
"The creatures! They weren't as common but they were still used in the fights toward the end, right? Did they let the last ones go when they finally closed down?"
Ivy was quiet, her face scrunched in thought.
"Well, I left before it happened. Kind of had no choice there. But that doesn't seem like the kind of thing the Boss would have done, so..."
She trailed off as she noticed the beast tamer's expression. "Or they could have. One of the crew could have let the survivors out, not everyone there was horrible..."
At that point it was too late. Some begging and prodding later, and here they were a long way from home just to see if some monsters had somehow lived through their imprisonment. Many of the beasts Kylara had met or learned about were incredibly hardy. If there was any chance some were still trapped in the arena, she had to make sure they got out.
A low growl roused her from her courageous thoughts and she looked to her left. August was trying his best to keep himself quiet, but the bristling feathers on his wings were an obvious sign of his discomfort.
"There's something in there. This place is dangerous."
He spoke just loud enough for the female in the front to hear and she turned to come back. Kylara noticed that her feathers were perfectly flat, and she almost seemed to have a hop in her step.
"Duh. That's why we're here. They only had the biggest and meanest monsters left by the time I got out, they were the most entertaining. And powerful. Oh yeah, I probably should've mentioned that earlier," the warrior drawled. August let out an annoyed huff, but hitched up his shoulder to readjust the carriage halter and continued forward. Kylara balked at what they were getting themselves into, not reacting for a moment as the wagon full of cages for their potential rescues was pulled past her, but then firmly shook her head and put a determined expression on her face. She was the one that wanted to do this, and she was the one that could help the animals inside. She couldn't back out now. The Imperial trotted to catch up to her companions, standing beside them as they lined up in front of the great wood doors leading inside.
The plan was gone over quickly. Ivy would lead them to the barracks where the monsters were kept. They would locate and free any that were living and able bodied, and the ones that were in worse condition would be brought back to the clan where Kylara could care for them. August was to help them avoid any traps that they might come across ("My boss was the odd, secretive type. Didn't like people messing with her plans, I wouldn't put it an inch past her to do something like that," Ivy said) and restrain any beasts that were too strong for one dragon if there were any. With their roles in mind, Ivy grabbed an iron handle and slowly pulled the doors open.
