Biography
Xena The Healer |
You walk past the open cavern that served as a healer's bay and enter into the back room, which has a pristine white cloth drawn over the entrance. A soft platinum tundra is sitting behind a desk, busy mixing herbs into a salve while reading a large tome, her luna mith perched on her back. She looks up as you arrive and rises to her feet unsteadily, limping forward carefully with two strange braces on her back legs. "Hello there, can I help you? I wasn't expecting anyone today," She mutters, shuffling her feet in front of her. |
Origins
When Xena was born, she faced some difficult hardships in her health. She was born a sickly hatchling, hardly able to move on her own despite her attempts. Her lungs were weak, sending her into vicious coughing fits accompanied by high fevers, and most of the time her joints were stiff and muscles weak. She struggled to eat and keep food down, stunting her growth and forcing her to rely heavily on her brother, Xeytar, to assist her in life and protect her from enemies. It was up to the Gods whether she would survive to adulthood, as she seemed to be slowly wasting away from illness. Despite the odds stacked against her, Xena survived and began to thrive as best she could while Xeytar hovered over her. Growing up as sick as she was, it was no wonder her brother worried over her even when they moved to the Galestorm Flyers to find a cure. However, it soon became clear that this ailment would have no easy fix, and while she began to recover from her weakness, her back legs had lost their function, leaving her half paralyzed. For a while, she simply moped and pitied herself while being doted on by Xeytar, not trying to recover from the loss of mobility. It was Serasorth that finally kicked her into gear, for once almost yelling at her and forcing her out of her shell of pity. As she was finishing recovering, she began to research a treatment, deciding that if she could not cure this she would at least work around it. Xena set about developing braces with Kratos' assitance, allowing her her back legs to moderately function with some assistance from magic. Serasorth took Xena into an apprenticeship as a healer, enabling her to further develop the treatment for her illness while also honing her skills in healing. Xeytar eventually left the clan, allowing Xena to truly emerge from her shell and develop her own life. She now resides in the Flyers as a secondary healer, working alongside Serasorth with the assistance of her scent book to jog her memory of herbs. |
Personality
Xena is a strange character, somewhat of a conflicting personality in some ways. When interacting with dragons outside of Kratos and Serasorth, Xena is a shy and easily startled dragon. She has a slight stutter and is easily intimidated, as well as tends to forget things--a classic tundra trait. Around royalty or and sort of regal dragon, Xena is stunned into silence and tends to completely forget how to walk and talk, making interactions quite awkward. However, among close friends and family (mostly Kratos and Serasorth), Xena is a more focused and steady individual. She is able to maintain a comfortable and intellectual conversation for the most part, especially with Serasorth when discussing matters of healing. She is easily excited by discussions of her treatment and braces, as they are subjects she is thoroughly familiar with and works tirelessly on. Though she is dedicated to her work as a healer, Xena has developed many hobbies for when her illness forces her to stop working to rest. Among those, she dabbles in weaving and knitting many of her own blankets, practices flower pressing, and develops her mechanical skills with Kratos. She also finds herself consistently consulting her "scents" book, a book made by the mages that contains the scent of every dragon in the clan and their corresponding information in case she forgets their names. She often fears she will forget her clanmates or details within her job, so the gift of her scents book brought her to tears and she carries it with her everywhere.
