Biography
Progenitor
Summerwings is an artisan stonecarver. He spent many years on a lonely search for his Charge, and at times working on his art was the only thing that brought him any comfort. He plied his trade as both an artist and an architecht, meeting many dragons and developing a reputation as a wise and fair dragon, though one plagued by a lingering sadness brought on by the fruitlessness of his Search.
Some years ago, feeling purposeless and despondent, he decided to settle for some time in a part of the Star Wood he liked well enough, with a series of natural caves to make a den from - and with the stone and precious metals in which he worked. It seemed an ideal place to trade, so that he would have the resources needed to continue his long quest.
Summerwings developed a habit of offering sanctuary to dragons who had left or been cast out by their native clans. He enjoyed the sense of community and the respite from his long isolation - however briefly these dragons stayed.
Areiana was one of many dragons he offered refuge to, but she was remarkable for being the first one to stay.
They were briefly lovers, but they were not well suited. Areiana was far too flighty and impulsive for the staid, steady Summerwings and the relationship petered out over time, though it gave them several hatchlings.
Over time, more and more dragons joined their makeshift clan: fellow artists and artisans; traders, teachers; warriors and hunters; refugees who had heard that he would welcome and protect them. Wwith each new arrival, Summerwings felt the frustration and hopelessness inside him dwindle. He began to eagerly anticipate each new day, wondering what new discoveries, inventions and mischief his clanmates might provide. He took great pleasure in guiding and teaching his clanmates and their hatchlings and in crafting works of beauty and functionality for them to share and to enjoy.
Gradually he came to realise that his search was over - that the care and protection of his clan would be his lifelong Charge.
