Biography
Staytis the Slave
Staytis had only a taste of freedom when he was young, living with his mother in the Waste for the first six months of his life. It was a hard life they led, plagued with struggles and a daily fight to just keep living. An attack from a Mirror-Monster (so-called because it had evolved to hunt Mirror dragons) left his mother dead and him at the brink of following her. A kindly Nocturne found him and cared for him, though even he could do little to help his terrible wounds. They remain to this day, Myria having taken advantage of his old scars when he came under her power. Long since healed she had them re-opened through whippings the first time he attempted to disobey her.
His wings were injured the attack and, thus bound to the earth, his travels became increasingly more difficult until the Nocturne decided they must try to reach Haven no matter the cost. It took them months to make their weary there. Once there, however, their quality of life vastly improved. Staytis quickly rose to fame in the village they settled in, having the head and heart of a leader. He came to the attention of the High Council who moved him and Splash the Nocturne to the castle to rule as one of them. They led a happy life until Myria took over.
The gates were sealed and both became slaves, separated from each other. Staytis attempted to escape to search for Splash, but was caught soon after and punished severely. That is when Myria decided to take him as a consort. Not wanting him to forget his place after she married Voltaris she decreed that her children by him would be sold. Forced by his position, he agreed. It wasn't long before he regretted this and plotted a second escape attempt. Myria uncovered this, however, and ordered Splash's capture. She revealed his imprisonment to Staytis and threatened to kill him should he ever try to leave again. All this she held from Voltaris, knowing he would not approve. Fearing for his former guardian's life, Staytis remained, unwilling to do anything that might lead to Splash's death.
