Tourmaline

Tourmaline is one of three elders amongst the now growing clan of fulmination. She stood so long amongst a clan of so very few, tending to what was left. Windsinger had done all he could for them, but their clan was dying out. On a day of drought, when Tourmaline could feel her clan of three slipping away into nothing but a whisper of history, clouds gathered overhead quick with the wind; summoning the strongest storm she had witnessed in eons. It couldn't be anything less than a sign. With what little they had, Tourmaline and her brothers took to wing, Windsinger at their back and Stormcatcher at their head; lights flickering in the bellies of the clouds. If she were so bold, she may have thought a glimmer of a light blazen wing caught her eye, as they dashed through the clouds, following the bursts of lightning -at a fair distance- to what she hoped to be their new home. Though, let's face it, she couldn't see much save for the rain in her face. The rain that grew stronger as they flew, to the point where Tourmaline could feel her wings freezing up from the cold. They had to land. Somewhere, anywhere. A glance to her flanks let her know that Delphinium and Laudwine weren't too far off either, and so she took the initiative to dive from the throat of the sky, making to land at the closest location. She jarred to the ground with a heavy thump, followed quickly by her less than graceful companions.

All around them was desert, arid and heavy with the echoes of rainfall. Tourmaline was more than a little weary of intruding on dragon clan territory, and didn't stop to rest even as they landed, scouting out the desert in hopes of finding somewhere less inhabited. They came to the mouth of a cave at the edge of a canyon; And after a bit of quick scouting along its walls, she found the place to be uninhabited. Whatever odds were with them that night, Stormcatcher wanted them to find this place.

Tourmaline is a strong elder dragon, though still quite young in her five month life. She is considered an elder not so much due to her age, but because she chooses not to be a patriarch, but a caretaker, and is one of the founders of their great clan. She is light spirited, willing and is always seen helping around the caves; helping to bring light into the darker mouths with special equipment, caring to the hatchlings and helping the young to grow.
