Hazin

Hazin is the clan matriarch of this lair. She rules with a sure claw and a gentle voice. She is kind and motherly, but does not suffer fools lightly.

Her traitorous mate Toothless was brought in at the clan's founding, but constantly undermined her authority by giving orders without her knowledge. His ambitions grew too fierce, and so Hazin stripped him of his title and demoted Toothless to the lowest ranking in the clan. She told the Mirror dragon he would only ever regain his position if he proved himself worthy of it.

But it was never to be. Consumed by bitter rage, Toothless attacked Hazin one night in a last bid for control. He was quickly overpowered and killed in the fight. A brutal end to a brutal dragon. Though she wished that she had seen the warning signs earlier in their developing relationship, Hazin does not regret taking out such a threat to her growing family.

The remaining dragons under her leadership saw the swift and decisive actions as further sign of her place as matriarch, and their loyalty to her reign grew.

...Even when she announced her decision to move the clan.

Hazin knew the choice was best for them all in the end, but leaving the home she had known since she was a young, reckless dragon broke her heart all the same. It was getting to be too dangerous to continue living in the Starfall Isles. Her family was too small and unimportant to have any say in how research was conducted and resources were collected (they took so much from the land in their thirst for precious knowledge, took so many risks in their magic experiments), yet big enough to attract unwanted attention for their place in society and the access to resources it provided. Hazin searched for months, discovering that she could, in fact, still experience the devastating effect of indecision that plagued her in her youth, but eventually found that the Gladekeeper's Viridian Labyrinth offered the peace and safety she so desired for her children.

And so, with one last forlorn look over her shoulder at the rosy stones that sheltered her for so long, she left the studious guardianship of the Arcanist and was welcomed into the gentle embrace of the Gladekeeper.
