Nyden

A light catches your eye as you make your way down the cliff face within a massive cavern. A small den has been carved from the stone and the dragon within stares at you with intense curiosity. He doesn't speak to you instead, he offers you visions of his memories as you approach him. You reach out, touch his claws and instantly see a gargantuan forest. The leaves created a canopy spanning as far as the eyes could see in every direction. Dragons and other forest dwellers raced through the trees as leaves of every imaginable color drifted in the air, silently demanding to be seen as the wind carried them. All at once it turned red. The smell of burnt wood became overwhelming and the forest's very soul burned and faded to ash. Then came the silence. It seeped into the gray, swallowed charred bones, sifted through death, and entangled itself with everything it could reach. A large dragon emerged coughing from a heap of ash. He attempted to call out but his lungs could not break the quiet that had embraced them. His name was Nyden, the only dragon whos life was not taken by the flames.
