Biography
@Hemmalaya
When Mystery had been born, the shadows had whispered his name all through the realms, speaking of the blood patched hatchling in hushed, low tones. Mystery developed an immediate interest in games of chess, testing his stratagems, learning the best way to take down an opponent. Unlike his parents–two ice dragons, both of the same molted coloration as he–Mystery was melodramatic, prone to fits of vivid emotion, and his demeanor often matched that of the springtime weather: sunny, but dotted with thunderous rainstorms. Despite his relative youth, Mystery possesses an uncanny wit and intellect, his eyes shining with a wisdom far beyond his years when they aren’t disguised by the hood that he is wont to pull over his serpentine features.
At a time when Mystery was but a hatchling, the young pearlcatcher immediately took to games of wit and strategy, but he most delighted in the sensations that came after a victory in one of these games, and at times the dragon was even known to use underhanded tactics to secure a victory, his skills in sleight of hand growing as he himself grew.
There were times, of course, that these mischievous tricks were discovered, and he was scolded, but this merely instilled a further sense of intrigue around the idea of ‘cheating,’ as they called it, but Mystery didn’t quite see it that way. It isn’t quite cheating if it’s something the other party could just as easily do, and Mystery saw it more as a bending of the rules, a slight discretion that merely showcased his own intelligence.
As a child, Mystery would often put on large theatrical one-man shows for himself and his family, often using the artifacts and relics that his parents collected as props in his shows. Melodramatic and prone to fits of creativity even as a child, these shows proved the perfect outlet for his more creative side, while it also garnered him the attention that any young hatchling demands.
Mystery left his home in the Southern Icefield rather early... He had been born with such beautiful violet eyes, a trait he’d never seen in any of his brothers and sisters, and he did not believe he truly belonged in the Icefield, where everything was cold–even the people–and nobody cared at all for the games that Mystery indulged in.
His journey there was not without its hardships, but it was also not without its successes. Along the way, Mystery met many strange fellows who told him more of himself. In the Starfall Isles, Mystery happened upon a Mirror of strange violet hues who called herself The Seer and professed to him the destiny that she had dreamed, claiming that he must find his way to the Tangled Wood and become a servant of the elusive deity there, The Shadowbinder. The Seer claimed that should he find his way to the Tangled Wood, Mystery would learn of the latent magics that laid nascent within his blood, but that if he did not make it there before his first birthday, it would certainly spell doom for the young dragon and his family.
Mystery found himself in the Tangled Wood many months later–though still making it before the strange Mirror’s deadline–and proceeded to pledge himself to The Shadowbinder’s cause, and found himself among others like him, others born with beautiful violet hues in their eyes, others who delighted in games of tactical prowess and strategy.
Since then, Mystery had resided happily in the Tangled Wood, leaving occasionally to explore the world around him, but never straying too far from the beautiful world he now called home.
However, as they were exploring the cliffs around the borders of Wind and Water a summer thunderstorm caught them off guard. High winds and rain causing Mystery to crash into the cliffside as he was trying to fly to Murder who was hovering over the surf trying to gather up the hatchlings. He could only watch through a haze as Murder with soaked clothes and armor was struck by lightning and collapsed into the surf. Mystery was able to stumble up and drag her out of the water, but their hatchlings were gone and Murder rushed shakily to the nearest village to get help.
The pair returned to Nuleco to mourn and heal. During that time they adopted 2 juvies rescued from the grove. Cursed by the witch a pair of Phena had to snatch them away from. The children brought a much-needed purpose and distraction to the young morning couple. After a while and the whole family has healed a bit together. The couple started planning a new trip, to plague which neither had explored very extensively and to take their children to be vaccinated given the wanderlust that already was peaking through.
