pDACUOg.gif It was a hard time for the council to find a fitting job for Freckles. His first activities as guard ended up with him flirting and napping instead of watching over the place. As insect catcher, he brought home nearly nothing - again, instead of doing his work, he took a nap somewhere in the shadows. He also failed as warehouseman, gardener, messenger, sitter and several other jobs.
Some were furious because of his lazyness. Hotch and Scooter had to stop Nurax several times trying to beat the skydancer up. Not even his mate Afterglow could talk sense in his thick head. Until she took him under her wing and went to search for new plants together with him. Freckles had learned everything about the plants in the lands of the Lightweaver and the Shadowbinder as a hatchling; which plants he could eat and take home, and which he should leave be. But he never wasted a thought about the other places in Sornieth. Afterglow brought him to the Sea of a Thousand Currents. She showed him new plants, the places they grew, how he had to dig them out or how to handle the ones with thorns. For once in his lifetime, Freckles watched silent, in awe of the new things he was learning. Afterglow noticed, and showed him more. She and the other foragers teached him everything they knew about every plant in Sornieth. And Freckles stored those informations, took notes and even talked about it in his freetime.
