Rune was born to the clan while it was still new. Arrenzo was very fussy about the hatchlings that remained in Clan Kaitos, picking only those he saw as having a future in the clan. Rune watched as her siblings grew and left to serve the deities, but found that the clan leader had taken a liking to her. Instead of sending her away, he gifted her scrolls, giving her a choice as to whether or not to use them. Rune happily accepted, and was filled with joy as her appearance changed - dark brown lines spread over her body, while her leathery wings took on a beautiful dual toned appearance.

Rune was one of the rare guardians who completed her Search from the moment she was born. Her Search was for a family and a place she could always feel happy, which was provided by Clan Kaitos. Despite missing her mother, she was happy to have both her loving father, Quidlin, and her delightful son, Izaya, as well as her beautiful grandchildren, Zelgius and Shelke, all safe in their positions in the clan. She was one of the few to fully support Arrenzo in all of his endeavors, and continued to support Bramble in the same manner when he went missing.

Unfortunately, the creeping rot began to set in. Rune was amongst those that helped in the original effort to rid the clan of the infestation, desperate to protect her home. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain. Despite continuous attempts to destroy the infestation, it only crept faster towards the clan, destroying their home's beautiful surroundings. When the decision came to move, she was distraught. It took the members of her family, desperately convincing her that home would always be where the heart is, to even start her on the first steps towards a new home.

For the entire journey, Rune wandered in a daze, barely sleeping or eating, with her father, son and grandchildren all making sure she continued to put one foot in front of the other. For a a few, awful, weeks, they feared she wouldn't make the journey.

Thankfully, their migration came to an end. Bramble found them a lovely new home in the Shifting Expanse, where they were welcomed warmly by their hard-working neighbours. Rune took a few more days to warm to her surroundings with the help of her family. She began to realise that they were right. Her Charge is her home as well as her family... But her home is her family. Her home really is where her heart is. Rune is happier again, and continues to care for both her family, and her new home.

She was given a young, injured maren to take care of - a prize from Arrenzo and Druan's expeditions - before Arrenzo disappeared. Arrenzo had hoped to gain information about the other clans, while Rune found herself looking after him as if he were one of her own children, despite the language barrier. She continues to take care of the maren and learn all she can about his tribe, despite Arrenzo no longer keeping a report on her progress. Instead, she uses Niko and Gaia to catalogue her findings and reports to Bramble so that the former leader still lives on. She hopes, in this way, to keep the clan going strong, although she feels the loss of the two, and of their home in the Starfall Isles, deeply.
