"The things you've left behind have become my everything. How do I move on from here?"
"Nothing in this world or the next will stop me until I'm once again united with you." The world is unpleasant. It was something he learned soon after the one he loved was taken. She was his world, his everything, and now she was gone and he was alone in the world once again. Until he slept and then she was there, laughing and smiling only for him. Waiting for him, but there was no world for him without her. The only thing that kept him tethered to this world was the perpetrators were still out there. Soon though, he'd find them. Roan was the Oldest of a clutch of two, his younger brother was always a bit stronger than him, but for much of his youth, he did not mind. As much as his mother loved him, Roan was always lonely. His brother was often with their father, learning clockwork. Roan had no interest in his father's field and chose to watch the beastclans living their day to day lives. His natural desire to know more about them is what changed his fate. Cantha was a young Serthis, a fresh face who had moved to the village with which his father's clan traded. She was beautiful, with her lustrous amber tail and eyes, her sun-kissed skin and waves of umber locks. There was no Serthis as wondrous as her for miles. Roan was in awe of her, she was bold and courteous, whenever he passed she would smile, as she would for the rest of the town. Eventually, Roan was able to speak to her, a fumble in the market that led to a cascade of fresh fish, laughter within the slimy mess and a conversation to spark their friendship. Cantha was more amazing to Roan than even the deity he was born under, all he wanted was to sit with her, melt away in those eyes and forget his problems. Truly, she must have been his savior. However, life is no fairy tale, not for Roan, and not for Cantha. Her beauty would be her downfall. As strong as she was she was unable to protect herself from a group of bandits, her humble wooden home was ashes when the sun rose, there was nothing. Roan knew not what to do but weep, his beloved friend was gone, there were no remains, and yet the fire should not have been strong enough to utterly destroy a Serthis of her kind. Through much investigation, they learned that she was taken for her hide, sold for a cruel dragons guilty pleasure for a new set of jewelry for his harem.
