Biography

Nemo
The Starchild

Ever since the night he hatched, Nemo looked up to the stars. Small, shiny dots crossing the dark sky, shining brighter than the hot pink radiance emitting from the horizon. He imagined that he was a star himself, fallen on earth to live. A concept unlike any other. Nemo was sure, everything came from the stars - and everything would eventually go back. He wandered alone for a while, only him and his thoughts. He sought knowledge, answers to all his questions and answers the silent stars couldn't give him.

For the longest time he gathered information, stuck his nose in every book or scroll or tablet he could find to still his thirst. And yet, after reading all about death and war, chaos and destruction, plagues and shade, he never lost eye for the stars, a kind smile and childlike trust.

Unfortunately, these characteristics often got him into trouble. Even with all his wisdom he often couldn't see the consequences of his actions. He would ask invasive questions, annoy and ridicule dragons without realizing it but oh well - that's a teenager for you. Nemo isn't he fighting type, he'd rather talk his way out of a fight and solve conflicts peacefully. Considering that he has little to no physical strength this is not very surprising, and although he always harbored great magic powers he rarely used them in an offensive way. Thank the Arcanist it wasn't long till he met Alannah.

Alannah and Nemo are as different as night and day, but something kept them together, call it luck, fate or magic. They met when Nemo got himself into trouble again, this time no word or gift of peace would get him out of this. Followed by three menacing looking Ridgebacks with their equally menacing familiars at their side. Nemo was sure he would return to the stars any moment when another huge shadow towered in front of him, blocking the path between him and the ridgebacks. The first thought that raced through his head when he saw her was "Star". Covered in scars and the ragged clothes of a marauder, Alannah emitted power, anger, violence and - surely for Nemo alone - safety. Nemo never saw someone kick butt so beautifully.

After that, Nemo wouldn't let Alannah alone. He would follow her around, talk to her about his studies, shared his thoughts and sneak under her warm shadow at night. At first Alannah wasn't all too happy about his companionship, she later on told him she wasn't used to this kind of affiliation, but he was so grateful for his "Star" that he just couldn't let her go until he found a compensation big enough to show his gratitude. After a while then, Alannah started to change. She asked him questions, talked about his thoughts, ideas - even her past! And every night she would hold up her wing for him to sneak under. They've became friends, closer than they've been to anyone before. Nemo didn't want Alannah to leave and luckily, Alannah stayed.

They returned to the Crystalspine Reaches, a place both remember from their childhood and chose a gigantic Crystal-spiral, permeated by holes and tunnels like veins, to become their new home. At first, they shared a cave at the top of the spiral with enough space to fit both dragons as well as their belongings - still with a wonderful view over the Reaches to the Frigid Floes sparkling in the light of day and up to the sky.

As time went by, more and more dragons came by and chose to stay with Nemo and Alannah in their Spiral, forming the "Astral Viators" - a Clan united under the believe that all life comes from the stars and all so will return. Nemo and Alannah split their tasks. While Nemo was in charge for the more diplomatic and personal things, Alannah chose to be the literal guardian of the clan. After a while, he even took a young Wildclaw under his wing to teach him, a the dragon seemingly wasn't able to control his own magic powers. They grew bigger and closer with every passing day. Around the same time their clan popped into existence, they made contact with another clan residing at the Frigid Floes and have been allies and close friends ever since.

Now if one remembers that Nemo is a ambassador of peace and non-violence - Alannah holds back most of the time for him - they could wonder if the "Astral Viators" would make a good ally, Nemo would gladly prove them otherwise. He is loyal to the core and all talk about peace is forgotten if his friends and allies are in need. If he catches just the glimpse of the Aurora Borealis, a beacon of help between the allies, he and his clan are ready. His magic powers grew immensely over time, making him the most powerful mage in his clan and even with his kind smile and tiny appearance, most intimidating (Which Alannah is more than proud of).

Lately however, he is faced with more and more problems. After their Spiral began to crumble, they had to move to the Starwood Strand near the costal line in the middle of the Arcane territory. While the forest is beautiful at night, it harbors great dangers. Dragons easily get lost, either in the forest or their mind; several Beastclans have their territories around and the slightly mutated Arcane Beasts don't make it much better. And then there's the soul-snatching -hatchling-thief Ephraim and the Shadeling Whisper. He has turned more and more to the stars, seeking aid and answers even though he should have learned years ago that the stars are silent. Nemo spends more and more hours observing the sky, scribbling down unreadable notes and numbers. Some murmur he almost resembles the Arcanist himself.
