Penchant is a spirit that lives in the desert through which the Caravan Kingdom roams.

She is - as human might put it - the king at the very top of the food chain. The apex predator. In both the spirit world, and the human world, she has carved out a name for herself. 		Strength

There are two types of spirits in this world - herbivores, that eat the leftover spirit of a creature that has just recently passed away; and carnivores, that kill and eat other spirits.

Penchant has eaten many spirits in her lifetime, and in so doing, consumed and assimilated their knowledge.

Penchant is a unusually smart and dominant spirit, and one of the very few that has learned human speech. Penchant spends a considerable amount of time making very interesting deals with humans. What could a human possibly want with a spirit? Quite simple - they pay her to kill and eat the spirits that torment them.

They trade her knowledge - she trades them freedom.

I could be the hidden truth,

and you could be my saccharine liar

You could be the weak-kneed youth

and I could be your trial by fire

Find me in the fog

that blurs your crisp-laid seams

Find me in the slog

that traps you into hazy dreams 		She tugs on her chest feathers; smoothing them into tidiness.

"What is it you wish from me?" She asks.

And her words spread like coiled snakes, slipping down ears to hide, wretched and venomous, in the coils of your heart.

"I can do anything you so ask of me..."

Her eyes are too beautiful in this moment. Too distracting. You almost miss her next words.

"...for the right price."

Nothing she does could be cruel, could it? Every ounce of her screams of an angelic nature, unearthly compassion.

You let yourself be swayed.

And in your heart you feel it welling up - trust.

The one thing they told you never to let her take.

And yet you give it freely.
