The clan has two main healers: Atuan and Runetalon. Where Atuan specializes in healing magic and works as a combat medic, Runetalon is a skilled surgeon and looks after the long-term health of each clan member. He has an extensive collection of records which he keeps track of carefully. Few are allowed near it as he greatly values his patient's privacy.

The day Runetalon stops stitching up the wounds of others is likely the day he dies.

He's always had steady hands and a steady heart, the perfect combination for a mercenary medic. The injuries he is faced with are often gruesome, and sometimes fatal, but has he ever batted an eye at them? No, of course not. No one has ever seen him so much as flinch in the face of blood, wince at the prospect of another long night in surgery. It's as if his heart has been carved out and replaced with one of steel, one that will pump furiously until the end.

The rumors do wonders for his reputation, if he's being honest. Let dragons believe his heart is a machine, that his lungs have been replaced and his bones turned to steel. If they think him to be a construct now, a dragon once, it gives them heart. Surely the dragon-turned-machine has survived the horrors of the operating table. Surely he knows his way around the body, how to heal it, how to save it.

And while he's as flesh and blood as any of the mercenaries he makes a living stitching up, the latter part of the rumors are true: he knows the body better than anyone around. His claws are among the best to place a life in, and living among mercenaries, his skills see a great deal of use.

He sees everything from minor injuries to deadly blows on the average day, and he records them all meticulously after the sun goes down. No sense in losing information about patient allergies and affinities when they might be back within a week sporting a new wound in need of care. Of course, it does hurt sometimes; he can't save everyone, and those entries are the hardest to write. But he does it, because they're valuable. If he loses a patient because he wasn't fast enough, or because they reacted poorly to anesthetic, or anything else at all, he keeps that knowledge close to his heart. Losing one dragon is enough, and he is not keen on losing others to the same mistakes. That would be a disservice to those he aims to save.

But tragedy strikes, as it does, and sometimes, the will of the deities cannot be obstructed. Lately, it has been worse, as the mercenary guild has hired itself out to rioting workers in the Ashfall Waste. So used to flying freely in the winds of the Twisting Crescendo, they inhale so much smoke so frequently, and it is slowly killing them all. Runetalon cannot purify their lungs, and he certainly cannot wipe the air of ash. He is well and truly at a loss as to how to reverse these slow deaths. He must, he must, but how?
