Nepenthe formed Clan Mythos almost by accident, after leaving her parents' clan in search of her fortune. She wanted to surround herself with like-minded vagabonds who were interested in delving into forgotten ruins, studying the stars, asking questions of the universe and genuinely seeking the answers. Phoebe was among the first to join her, but of the original clan they are the only two remaining – as might be expected, many others have gone on to seek new stories elsewhere or to serve the Arcanist and the Lightbringer. Nepenthe served the Arcanist herself, for a time. In her youth she wanted more than the mortal Earth could provide, and so she went to the Arcanist's side, intending to devote the rest of her life to study. Two queens led the clan in her stead: Leda first, before ceding the rule to Andromeda and leaving to serve the Arcanist herself. And yet Nepenthe's curiosity was so burning as to go unslaked even by Divine study. Her studies taught her in great detail about magic and the workings of the world, but it was theory; in the Divine presence of the Arcanist, she learned much, but was able to practice almost nothing. The Arcanist was an affable deity to serve, and he fielded her questions with a gentleness Nepenthe never expected from a deity. Eventually, she made her case: she believed that she could learn more, and uncover more of the truths of the world, if she were back on it. The Arcanist agreed, and Neptenthe returned to her clan, allowing Andromeda to take her place like she had wanted to for a long time. The clan moved into the lands of the Lightbringer, but brought with them a cutting of a Starwood. This Nepenthe planted with due ceremony at the center of their territory, where it has grown into a small copse. Here all of the clan's hatchlings are born, so that they might know of their clan's connection to the Arcane and the Light together. Nepenth is an apt leader, beloved by her clan. Her focus is on diplomacy; her advisors and diplomats have, under her instruction, formed close ties with the neighboring Beastclans, allowing Clan Mythos to live, explore, and learn freely. Litha, her chosen queen-in-waiting, is young yet, and Nepenthe has no plans to leave her clan in the near future – but still, it's always good to have a willing and able understudy. An accomplished mage, she takes only one or two apprentices at a time. Arzu and Azizos, twins from another clan and chosen for their innate curiosity and sharp minds, are her current students. |
