The walls of Lofticries' and his mate's shared chambers are covered in detailed murals and swathes of painted canvas, mostly of landscapes. There are occasional portraits of certain dragons--you can make out Silkspun's elegant form lovingly daubed in blue and green, the clan leader Zareen's familiar gold wings as a hatchling.

Lofticries himself sits on the floor, fingers running over another canvas. His head and neck are heavily bandaged, obscuring most of his face--you notice the lumpy shape of a poultice on his forehead. His thin body relaxes at his mate's voice, raising his arms to the sound of her in greeting--accompanied by a weak flutter of his fins.

You notice that his hands glow as if aflame, seething with magic, definitely not made of flesh and bone. Whatever part of him that was flesh was heavily scarred--scores of cuts mark the bits of him what wasn't bundled in bandages or warm red cloth.

The uncovered left eye finally peers at you--its pale opacity suggests damage, if not blindness, yet the fae directs it perfectly at you, and--

You do not know what vision assails you as his hands reach your face--only that you remember the shrieking of the sky going dark, and the heavy swell of the sea crashing you against the rocks, and the searing pain of something crushing your paws, driving pain through your right--

You blink again, still rooted by Lofticries' gaze until the fae finally releases you from his shimmering sight.

His mate kneels beside him, and he whispers something hoarse to the guardian's ear. She smiles, and they share a quiet moment before the matriarch stands and nods to you, signalling the end of your visit. The air in the chamber feels lighter.

In your awe you had forgotten to ask the patriarch anything.
