The Masked Renegade
Formerly a farming laborer from a ruthless clan in the Sunbeam Ruins, Brulei was a weak Imperial who could barely hold his own body. He was sold into slavery for underworld criminal organisations where he made his escape years later due a commotion during a grand ceremony of the mob boss' child who was murdered.
On the run, Brulei fled to the Shifting Expanse where he was hired to work on one of the trading boats, renaming himself to Simberuel to build a whole new identity. Working with the shippers, he soon found they were really pirates who were under service of a great lord who had them do tasks for him in return for payment.
Eventually the Lord died of age and his assistant took over, cutting down the pirate's pay, taxing the citizens who lived under his power, and indulging himself in such riches. Eventually Simberuel grew weary of the treatment and killed the assistant himself. Even though freeing them from a soon-to-be tyrannical ruler, Simberuel was exiled for murder, marooned on an island with his wings torn and shredded so he may never fly.
He lived alone on the island for years, practicing his weaponry and fighting skills until one day he was found by another Imperial.
She was odd, almost completely black, with wisps of darkness shrouding her body. In honesty, the renegade pirate was in awe of her strange beauty.
Together the two left the island, returning to the Shifting Expanse where he was approached by a Tidelord delegate who resided in a clan in the Expanse, an Imperial named Ashitaka. Ashitaka, having heard tales of Simberuel, invited him and the dragoness who freed him a home in the clan. In return, Simberuel would handle their shippings and trade business, something the ex-pirate readily agreed to.
Now he resides in the Tribe of Crashing Storms with his mate, the dragoness who freed him, Blight, as a trade manager and shipping goods manager, and even a few odd jobs here and there to hunt down the dragons who had wronged him. Young hatchlings adore his stories of his pirate days he'd often regale them with, and much of the clan thrives because his ability to bring in goods and money to keep them sustained.
It was the perfect life for him.

Simberuel is a devilish charmer, always grinning and always with a plan.
He's crafty, knowledgeable, and amazing with bargaining and trades along with his amazing swordsmanship and fighting ability.
Unlike other dragons however, Simberuel cannot fly, for his large wings have been ripped and torn, disallowing such ability. Instead he has learned to move swiftly, even with his great bulk, and to swim with the help of Shiroisuna.
While he doesn't know Blight is the one who freed him from slavery so long ago, he adores his mate with all his heart. She was a strange creature, but that didn't deter him.
He loves his offspring just as much as he loves Blight.
