Biography
Eurydice
Eurydice is regarded by almost all of the dragons of the clan as supremely cold and distancing. She treats practically all other dragons as though they must be out to get her, frequently seeming both anxious and paranoid - she unnerves and frightens most of the clan and so they are usually grateful when she limits her social interaction with most of them as much as she possibly can.
Many of the more empathetic dragons of the clan attempt to understand the reasons behind her antisocial behaviour and hostile attitude - with little to no success. It is hard for them to make any headway when Eurydice, like her brother and assailant, is like a whisper on the wind - here one moment and gone the next.
For those who have lived long enough, Eurydice is known as 'The Artist' and the Left Hemisphere of The Janus. For those selfsame dragons and deities who know this secretive yet illustrious past, the names Orpheus and Eurydice are simply pseudonyms that serve only to provide a false normalcy to their interactions and escapades within Sornieth.
The Lucanidae Clan : A Second Visitor (A Prologue)
Malacath was not the most artful of dragons, but he had a tendency to have a sudden spark of intuition that drove him to do things he couldn't quite comprehend in the moment. One day, one of these very urges saw him take to the many papers he had seen Orpheus sifting through in a little nook he had made for himself and begin rooting around as though there were some vital piece of information hidden among it all. In his head he was sure he wouldn't make heads or tails of any of it and- as he glanced over papers and papers of bizarre, alien diagrams and passages of strange codes- he felt right about this but his urge carried him onward. Soon, blindly, he settled on one piece of paper written in a scrawled yet legible draconic writ - the kind Orpheus had taught him to read in the Capillary. He curled it's corners in his claws and read:
"Lightning rips jagged sheets of white and yellow across the empty ocean of night sky. Every time I look into those anxious clouds I smile for every speck of colour, the open extremity of blackness makes me sick. All I can see is that absurd being that thinks itself better than me, black as night and totally so - were it not for those dim green speckles, two on either side, that let me know the fool is just as pitiful as me... Equally bound to these mortal chains, he calls himself Osiris. I would bring an end to him in the flick of a viper's tongue...
...
That cretinous male mirror is on my tail again... I can't believe I managed to feed him the Seed of Death only for it to have no effect... How I wish I could find Orpheus and force the end of our existence. Well, I won't have to wish any longer. I've traced him to the lair of the Lucanidae Clan - a minor settlement of the Everbloom Gardens. There we will convene for the first time in a few hundred years. It seems fitting it should take place in a similarly humdrum corner of the Viridian Labyrinth once again - there's nothing quite so maze-like about the quaint little bits of shrubbery and plain and sickening pastel-coloured flowers, it may as well be stricken off by the Gladekeeper. Let the Drag swallow it up, I say.
...
Orpheus is here. He tells me there is some important business to conduct concerning this aging Snapper before we set our sights on the fast-approaching Osiris. He seems to know one of the clan very well, Malacath, an interesting specimen - full of brawn and little brain, just the kind Orpheus always warmed to those many epochs ago during the wars..."
