For Tiane, a multitude of things went wrong very quickly.

First, it was the failure of her marriage— she had been sent from Lunar Point to secure an alliance between themselves and Vanoria. However, upon her arrival, she found her supposed fiancé smitten with another Skydancer. That hadn't been so bad— the Marquess being fond of another surely meant that she could return home. Right?

Unfortunately, days before her departure for home, Tiane caught the attention of Queen Atalya.

While Tiane's Arcane magic was certainly no match for Duchess Seren, her talents were enough for the queen to notice. Her majesty, hungry for more mages to bolster her kingdom, coerced the young Skydancer into staying. Tiane, too terrified of the daunting Imperial to disagree, has remained in Vanoria ever since. She desperately misses her parents and often writes to them, but has never received a reply. She has since found some comfort in the care of Duchess Ilta, but the longing for home has yet to fade.
