She was among the first to join the clan. Her ward was the nesting grounds near the dark pools of water. The nest of the Matriarch. She guarded the nest ferociously along side her mate, even at the cost of her sight against warcats- no longer able to fight with physical strength, she taught herself magic and defended the clan with powerful spells, and took the job of healing the sick and wounded. When the clan moved, the nests came along. It was in the new territory that the Great War happened, and her mate betrayed the clan- betrayed her. Furious and half-dead from her injuries at his refusal to fight for the clan that had welcomed him and given him a home, Skysong was the dragon who escorted The Traitor to the Forum, and into the Shadowbinder's 'care'.

Early in the Clan's development, a gem encrusted guardian of the Light element came upon it- the nests were his ward. The guardian and Skysong took matching names and were named mates, and together they watched over the nests and provided for the clan. They did so for a long long time. And then the Great War of Light and Shadow divided the clan. Or more accurately, revealed the guardian's true loyalties. When the battles reached them, he refused to fight against the foes, or escort the chosen dragons to The Shadowbinder. Initially he ceased when called out on it. The cessation did not last. Once more he refused to fight, even when Skysong fell under attack and was nearly slain by the opposing forces. He allowed them to surge around him and slay the chosen. He only struck back when the opposing forces found the nests. He betrayed his clan. He betrayed his mate. He was chained, stripped of his armor, and dragged to the Shadowbinder- for once, as a punishment, rather than an honor. Separated from his Ward, forced to forever serve the Deity he betrayed. His name remembered only by his mate, and never spoken.
