Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this Young Noodle wandered a little too far from her home lair Drazerii, and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Eallair was born to lead. Her father, the leader of the Aurora Clan, Auralion, expects her to follow his footsteps as the one remaining child that has stayed with the clan until maturity. But like many of her siblings, she often thinks she's cut out for something else. After growing up with dragons from many lands, all coming to settle with the Aurora, Eallair was inspired to find her own way in life. So despite the expectations placed on her, she begged her father for time to decide and grow. Often soft on his loved ones, he accepted, and so Eallair started her journey.

The most likely place to start her journey: Wind Flight. Being a crossroads and hub of travel,
commerce, and inspiration, it seemed right to begin there. It was while moving across the broad plains that she encountered a small city on the Wind/Fire border:
Caesura. She wandered through it's grand ports, with its interesting talking statues, and the beautiful gardens and bazaars beyond. She stopped at every market, shop, park, and building that caught her eye, simply soaking in all the sights and experiences.

She continued to wander, deeper and deeper into the center of the city, and eventually back out to the fringes. This place appeared more residential, the buildings older and more worn. They seemed to almost lean on one another, looming over her. She felt her shoulders stiffen, unease setting in as she started to surmise she might not be in the best part of town. And on top of that, it was dead queit- not another dragon around that she could see in the immediate area. She kept walking, the dread continuing to plague every step, her gaze taking in as much as she could.

A placard caught her eye. "Namesong Postal" the sign proclaimed,
and she hurried through the door of the establishment, relieved.
The sounds of papers rustling, dragons moving about, and the general chatter and call of dragons sorting incoming mail for further delivery eased her even more.
She took a deep breath, feeling safe in this cozy little place once more.
A warm brown tundra approached, a smile just as sunny as the golden streaks through his mane across his face.

"Can I help you, miss?"

"Oh- no thank you! I am just looking around. I seem to have gotten myself lost." She rubbed her head, feeling a bit embarrassed at her wanderlust.

The tundra laughed, the motion shaking his mane. "It is no trouble, miss. It happens all the time around here. Do you need help figuring out directions?"

"That would be fantastic, yes!" Eallair perked up, and followed the tundra over to a map.

"So, what you're going to want to do..."

...

The young spiral had chatted with the tundra for some time, eventually making her way back out into the main thoroughfare. He had been quite kind, even going so far as to offer to walk her out, which she blushingly declined. But now she was back in the sun, among the markets and gardens and dragons passing every which way on their daily treks.

It was in one of these gardens that she came across one of the strange statues that seemed to be all over the city. It was a pearlcatcher, with its pearl placed at its feet, with a slit in it. An imperial was sitting before it, jamming coins in and doling out questions as quickly as he could get more treasure in. Curious, she came closer, finally able to start picking out voices from among the general bustle of the city around her.

"...are you sure this is the wisest use of your coin?"

Eallair was surprised to see the statue itself speaking, apparently to the imperial. "Yes! Now what sort of answer is that?" He hurried to jam more coins into the pearl. "Now tell me statue, what sorts of questions can you answer?"

"Any sort that I have answers to, and which also have some importance behind them."

Eallair almost could swear she saw the statue roll its eyes. Perplexed, she tapped the imperial on the shoulder. "Excuse me, but what is this? Why are you putting so many coins in that pearl?"

The imperial practically jumped into the air, so engrossed had he been in his 'conversation' with the statue. "Madam! I- I daresay I am attempting to decipher how this strange marvel functions. It is obviously some sort of construct that runs on a larger information network, but attempting to interface with it and use it properly is proving... interesting." He gave a sidelong glance at the pearlcatcher statue. "At any rate, I suppose I've learned that different statues give different answers to the same sets of questions. This is the third statue I've asked, and the first to give me such sassy answers. Perhaps they develop algorithms based on the repeated answers they recieve in an particular location? But that would mean, hm....." He seemed to devolve into thought, forgetting entirely that he was holding a conversation with her.

She rolled her eyes, glancing over at the statue again before he suddenly raised his head with a jerk. "I've got it! Why don't you help me gather data! I'll talk to some of the constructs in this part of town, and you can ask questions to some of the ones on the other half." He vaguely gestured back to where she had just come from.

"I, um, am no-"

"Here! You're going to need this list of questions to ask, so we can get valid data without any variables aside from their responses. Thank you so much, this should be so interesting!" The imperial shoved a small note into her hand, and shooed her to the edge of the square, where he himself quickly took off. Most likely he was heading for another construct.

Eallair sighed. This wasn't exactly what she had been planning to do with her afternoon. She slowly opened the note to at least see what he had been asking, and was surprised to see no questions at all. The surface was worn, and there was a slight hole in the center, but the ink was clear enough to tell that it was some sort of map. A large, distinctive 'x' marked one of the upper corners, along with the words, "Be cautious". A slight grin touched her face. Now this was more like it! A chance for adventure!

She spent little to no time there, just enough to gather some supplies and already she was on her way. The map was crudely drawn, possibly in haste, with simple markings but no compass or anything that might help her direct herself towards the mysterious "X". So she flew around, realizing later on she was still in Wind territory. Perhaps she was simply going around in circles.

The realization she didn't move much brought her spirits down somewhat, but in all her circling, she ran into a pair of dragons, moving towards the end of the Reedcleef Ascent and the canyons below. Too late to notice something off about them both, she flew closer and already started asking for help when she realized that perhaps it was better to keep her distance.

The male was covered in what looked like some sticky green ooze. It spread and stretched across his fur, wings and eyes, leaving him blind and grounded (not that he'd probably be able to fly with eyes closed, she thought). With him passed a female, also a Tundra. Whilst she wasn't suffering from whatever he had, her body was covered in bloodied bandages and her whole appearance was sickly as the fur seemed to hang over a body too thin. Oh how she instantly regretted letting them see her.

The girl gave her a questionable, but also somewhat frightened look. Her companion, slightly leaning onto her, "looked" around in confusion, asking who is there and what's going on. Eallair simply shook her head and muttered a "...S-sorry!" before flying away. Whatever's going on with those two, she didn't want any of it. She'll manage to find her way on her own.
