Belle

Head Mage, and healer

"Oops. Oh well, that organ wasn't terribly important anyway. I think."

Belle came to Robin's clan seeking new things and places. Crossing paths in the market, he heard Robin and Fern discussing the idea of seeking out a new clan mate. Well. He was looking to get his tiny butt out of the nest, and these two dragons looked pretty strong. Maybe this was his fate calling. Currious, he tailed the two a little ways as they spoke to different clans. They seemed to be looking for a potential mage. Belle knew he liked magic, and as the two dragons wandered he made up his mind. Confronting the pair, the male fae complained and poked fun at him for bothering to try to hide. Belle pouted, but when the female mirror; Robin swatted and scolded him, he relaxed a little. They were playing, he realized. Strong, scary looking dragons but they seemed to be nice. Eager to get up and out of the nest, Belle expressed his interest in the idea of learning magics, and Robin, after noticing he was a wind dragon, was rather pleased to have him.

As Belle was too young to enter the coliseum immediately and start his tactical training, he took quickly to the books, studying everything magic related he could get his tiny claws on, when he discovered the scrying workshop. Becoming fast friends with Shade, They would often use their free time to mess around with ideas and see what they'd look like, often mildly horrified when something turned out incredibly awkwardly. A game that was fun until they stumbled upon an amazing combination for Shade. He. Was. Gorgeous. Neither of them had seen it coming that his yellow-green-purple colouration could become so insanely gorgeous. While Shade pretended to brush it off, Belle took it as his mission. The scrolls were incredibly expensive, but the way he'd caught his best friend looking at the image, he couldn't help but want to try.

Belles first stop in his little mission was to Anelia. He knew she was crafty in finding ways to make quick cash, and Belle was all for helping her if it meant helping Shade. At first Anelia had scoffed at him, telling him there was no way shade would ever be "Pretty." Not in any manner of decent semblance. So Belle dragged the skydancer down to the work shop, and was rewarded with stunned silence, and shock. Shade did indeed have incredible potential. With that Anelia couldn't just let Belle take this project for himself, and agreed somewhat excitedly to help in the matter. And so they decided that they would pester Robin and Fern to let them take most of the funds earned while training and funnel them into their project.

Keeping Ferns curious nose out of their project became a bit of an undertaking too. The head male was always curious about what everyone was doing and would try to sneak about to find out if he felt he needed to. In the end, Robin saved them though, after Belle appealed to her saying they were working on a surprise and he and Anelia were worried he might spoil it being nosy. Shades gifts carefully bundled and gathered they left the shocked mirror with them, Belle giving him a tight hug and darting off. He was barely recognizable latter that night, the now coatl standing tall and proud. Belles best friend had truely never looked better or more pleased with himself.

Several days later, Fern, Robin, and Shade brought Belle his first patient. He dug out all the references he could get his hands on, treating her gently until she stabilised a bit. Still noticeably ill after his rough patch job of whatever had caused swelling in a large percentage of her body, Belle got it under control, but was unable to get it to really clear up. So with Belle supervising their guest, Robin went out in search of a medic with more skill. When Robin returned she was followed by a curious young medic; Quartz who seemed to be related to Fern. She too what confused by the exact cause of the problem was. Between her medical experience and his healing abilities they applied careful treatment each day, slowly beginning to finally see some slight improvement. Until she could speak however, the source of the problem would remain elusive.

Finally the day came where Anelia completed her training. Belle and Quartz' patient remained bedridden, but slowly in better condition. As Quartz had been watching Belle, she picked up some of his tricks, and they decided that as she had more practical experience with medicine, she would stay, and Belle would leave to try to get his claws on some real healing experience. As all he had was some book knowledge and some rough idea of how to work things, he bid a tearful farewell to his best friend Shade, and a hug for each of his other clan mates before setting out to find someone to teach him proper healing magics.

Belles travels in pursuit of as much medical knowledge as he could fit in his little fae skull brought him to a great many places. First a nature clan with several of its own medics. There they had very few actual fighters. A peaceful clan where the "fighters" of the clan were more like some what decently trained guards. They possessed more practical and proper practice medical knowledge than anything that could be used in a crisis. He learned new techniques and tricks that were well versed for a clan who had time to spare. Long term healing, nothing was shortcut or done with real speed save for the deft sewing skills of their sutures and precision of their cuts for large surgeries. All the techniques he learned here were remedies, and major operations. While incredibly useful and most certainly something he was eager to learn and study, they were not something he could safely do in an emergency or without time to carefully and attentively tend to.

This was also where Belle gained his knowledge of the smirch based vampirism. The chord struck immediately. Their mysterious spiral guest had smirch. And she'd been burned badly. Not only that but feeding her and trying to patch her up was going incredibly slowly. If she'd been afflicted by this strain he finally had an answer for his clanmates. Not only that but the afflicted dragons in question could become incredibly dangerous if their blood needs were left unattended. And so with the new information and many new medical skills under his belt he thanked his hosts as politely as he could in his rush and made for home as fast as he could.

Arriving home things were... to say the least; hecktic. He had-or so it seemed incredible timing on his return as the medic that the clan had brought in sped off into the night followed by an incredibly angry Lilly. Confused as Pine tore after them shortly thereafter, and told that Pine would bring his sister back, he turned to the lair to try to assess the damage. Iris was drugged and cut open- fortunately an easy-though complicated-task to patch her up. It would be some time before she'd be healed enough to fight again, but the surgical skills he gained made treating her surprisingly easy.

Next-so he thought- was the issue of the vampire. She was up. And screaming. Medical instruments and equipment were thrashed and screams and growls echoed from inside the room. Sophie took on this task after a quick explanation, of what he believed was happening, and decided that if the spiral didn't settle down by the time he helped get the rest of the lair in order, then she was certainly big enough to hold the wiggly angry dragon down if nothing else. However there had been a large pool of blood on the ground, and the two of them hoped that it would be enough to at least settle her raging.

Some time later with Melody gone quiet and unresponsive-presumably having worn herself out and fallen asleep to Sophies lullaby she sang to the door, and Iris tended to, Belle began to worry about Pine and Lilly. He had expected them back by now. Taking off to look for them, he missed the pair on their way back, and was called back quickly to a massive gash across one of Ferns eyes, along with several cuts on his body that while Belle was sure he could save the males eye, all of the wounds were likely to scar. Carefully applying an anesthetic, Belle stitched Pine up and sent him to lay down with Iris before returning to check on their little spiral friend. Calling through the door came an excited cry, and a click of the inside lock. She cried his name over and over, excited and relieved. The expression shocked the little medic, and his heart sunk horribly as he listened to all the things that Quartz had subjected Melody to while he'd been gone.

Waiting for her to calm, Belle brought up to Melody what he had discovered in the nature clan he'd been learning about. Melody however was unclear if she was indeed afflicted by the problem, but knew well that her burns, sensitivity and the way she'd reacted to blood already; it made sense. Answers. Finally. They could treat her properly now.

As Melody showed improvements, and she decided she would like to stay with the clan, They spoke to Robin and Fern and after a trip to the scrying shop, solidified her place in the lair as a member and made her into a fae to lower her blood-needs, and make her life a bit simpler. That accomplished, Belle worked for a few more weeks to make sure that there was a safe supply of blood on hand for Melody, and that Pine and Iris were in well enough shape that Sophie could handle any necessary continued medical work with them, before deciding he would take his leave again. There was still so much for him to learn about the ways of medicine both magical, herbal and surgically.

His next destination was to another nature clan-one more versed in medicines and herbs than the last. He spent some time here learning about how to make all kinds of . Different plants to treat different things, as well as where and how to find them. He spent great lengths of time carefully studying and toying with each one. Antibiotics, burn salves, freezing, pain killers, everything he could get his little claws on. Especially if they were things he could prepare and store to be used in the field in addition to magics, or send out with the clans fighters and make their trips easier. So as he ran as far with the new clan as he could manage, making notes, and came home with a large pile of books he'd written for Shade since he was so interested in alchemy, Belle hoped to get his help in producing medicine for the field.

Belle's next destination was to a clan in plague. Hoping to learn as much as possible about germs and disease, as well as how to cure and treat them as possible. He had a good grasp on medical procedures, sterilisation, and treatment of wounds, but felt he needed more knowledge on germs and viruses themselves. Being able to better identify disease and illness would help him diagnose and treat them. On his excursion through the boneyard toward the rotrock rim for his studies he ran into a young feral fae, seeming scared and angry. Currious, Belle approached the male, and was attacked. Havng his innitial combat training in the lair, and having well learned to defend himself before he had even left for his studies, Belle made quick work of the young male when he didn't respond to reason, and knocked him out. Binding him carefully, Belle set up a small camp and prepared some food. The little fae was ridiculously slender and obviously malnourished. He hoped that an offering of food would settle him down enough to talk, and maybe get him some help.

When Vampire woke up he was surprisingly timid. Confused even when Belle offered him food, he wolfed it down quicker than Belle could blink. And so he fed him more until the boy was fit to burst. It took a while to figure out a way to communicate when Belle realised that the young male didn't speak any common language, but Belle soon discerned what had happened to him, and was incredibly surprised to learn that the other male was actually older than him. Shrugging it off, Belle taught him a few basic words, and they spent days chatting. Hearing Vampires tale of cannibalism and wanting to become stronger, Belles heart hurt for the other male. He told him of Robin and her clan. What it was like back home, and how there was no such suffering there. They had plenty of food, and the clan head would never expect them to try and cannibalise each other for status. That said, with some study, Belle found soon that some what like Melody it seemed Vampire also needed the blood of another dragon to survive and thrive. Not only that, but unlike Melody who possessed a hereditary form of vampirism, Vampire himself spread through infection. His "Contagion" his mother had called it, and where his name came from. He was though, quite proud of the strength and infectious nature of this so called contagion, and while it was indeed a source of pride for one of his element, Belle explained to him that he would be best off to be cautious not to transmit it to any of his future lair-mates, laying out a prevention plan. After all, if he became a problem for the clan-no matter how strong his contagion-he would have to find another place to live.

Incetivised and excited, Vampire left him to flee to Robins clan, with a few vials of blood. Told that Belle would return to help him tend to such needs when he got back. And that if he was good, Belle would even bring him back a treat when he returned from the plague clan he was going to work with on learning about disease and viruses. It was another month before Belle returned the second time. Just long enough to drop off a fresh supply of bloodvials-a careful split between Melody and Vampire; who had decided to keep his contagion name. At least until Belle returned proper. He didn't get the chance to really say hello or goodbye to anyone before he decided to head off to his final destination in the work on his medical know how-Magics.

The last clan he visited in his pursuit for medical knowledge was that of a water clan that boasted powerful mages and a solid turn out for young scholars to learn their magic studies quickly and effectively. Though he spent a little over a month here, he learned a great many things. Combat and Medical magics were vital for his role in the clan, and he wanted to learn it ALL. Careful and attentive of his studdies, and work, and the tactics and knowledge he'd gained before leaving his clan helped immensely. Soon. Soon he could go home. And finally stay there.

When Belle finally got home, the lair was quiet. Most of the dragons were asleep, and in bed save for Iris who all but tackled him when he turned up at the front entrance. Much as he longed to see and check in on everyone, he was tired. His breath run dry and hoarse from intense training and claws wrapped in little bandages. Tired, sore, but his training was finally FINALLY complete. And so Iris helped him to his room; left the way he'd left it, save for a bit of dusting by who he assumed had been Sophie or Melody. Crawling into his bed, he nudged into something about his size, and warm beneath his covers. Vampire had taken up roost in his bed for whatever reason. He heaved a sigh, deciding he was too tired to care about such trivial things, and went to sleep curled up in his bed next to the other dragon, just glad to be home.
