Killian

Garath always remained a very open and proud dragon, despite his hidden secrets. Within his clan ‘pureblood’ imperials were valued, and he was well known to be the child of a very important imperial – one of whom had the very blessings of the deities. However, the clan frowned upon his dalliances with ‘impure’ creatures – happily producing ‘impure’ hatchlings with various wildclaws, whom he seemed to prefer even over other imperials. It was these dalliances that led the new clan leader to carry out a search into his bloodline, and it was there that the shocking secret of his wildclaw mother came out.

Cast out of the clan, Garath was at first overconfident in his abilities to survive, being the only one of the three cast out that had any knowledge of fighting. Unfortunately, having devoted the majority of his life to wooing female dragons, he soon realised he had no idea where to start. It was at this point that the nameless imperial stepped forwards. Upon recognising the superior intellect, Garath happily let him take over.

Unfortunately, it still wasn’t enough. Despite his greater intelligence, the leader still lacked the skills to truly survive in the wild, having been still fairly pampered in their previous clan. They struggled to eke out an existence in the wilderness with their meagre scavenging skills and Garath’s strength, which they used to attack weaker dragons and beastclan members.

It was Kassian who came up with their salvation. Out of the three of them, he was the most well read, being naturally the most reserved of the three and having stayed the furthest away from other dragons. Up in the air was a tiny green creature, which Kassian recognised as being a very rare, and very valuable, male harpy. With that, they could gain the support of any harpy clan. With that support, they would be able to start their own clan, and their futures would be secure.

Unfortunately, Garath soon found out his mistake upon attacking the creature. He caught it easily, making sure not to unduly harm it, only to find himself face to face with an enormous imperial – easily half his length again. Despite his own strength, he quickly realised he was overpowered, but he was unwilling to let his gang down and give up the loot. His next mistake was in threatening the creature in his claws.

His leader and Kassian rushed to help, but a female imperial easily overpowered them, knocking their leader to the floor and fixing the ever meek Kassian in spot with just a look. Garath was very quickly persuaded to give up his hold upon the little green creature, although he wasn’t prepared for the lecture that followed.

The trio were set to have their ears worn down, before the female stopped the furious male, mid-rant. She pointed out their condition, which Garath found himself ashamed by. Far too used to looking his best for any female, he realised his scales were dull and his ribs were showing. His formerly lustrous main was brittle and looked ready to blow away in the wind. He hung his head and waited for the male to finally finish them off.

Instead of the expected deathblow, the trio found themselves hauled back to the Shifting Expanse and Clan Kaitos, where they were treated to a feast the size of which they had never seen before. Despite the initial wariness, hunger forced them to forget any wariness and dig in. Garath forgot his normally impeccable manners and ate until he was too full to move.

It was at this moment that Katsura decided to resume his lecture. The trio were forced to reveal their shameful heritage, and were surprised by Katsura’s laughter. The imperial revealed his own highly mixed and interesting heritage, and they soon realised that Clan Kaitos didn’t care. Katsura offered them a place – not just in the clan, but with him and his family. It didn’t take long for the leader to accept, and the duo quickly followed his lead.

With their new beginnings came new names. The leader received his first ever name, ‘Li’, while Garath happily took on the new name ‘Killian’, finding it to be suitable dashing for his new life. With his outgoing nature, and easy personality, he has quickly become a very popular member of the clan, particularly with the females, although it is his new family that he cherishes the most. Despite not being the closest to either Lailah or Ravyn out of the three of them, he is still the one they come to with any problems. He is the most knowledgeable about other dragons out of the three, but he can always be trusted to keep a secret. He trusts Katsura most out of any other dragon in the world, and he fully intends to repay him for everything that he has done.
