As a "child prodigy", Lenodel shocked the world with his talent in alchemy. But as it is with any child prodigy, it was no born talent, no gift granted from the heavens, but constant pressure from his father and peers, and nobody could forsee what harm such unbearable stress would do to a child. Nobody saw the emotional neglect.
He grew to resent his father. But at the same time, felt an ever-strong need to push his alchemy skills, to learn, to improve, to impress. His father was only ever disappointed, which furthered the gap between them. Finally having enough, Lenodel broke away from his father, never to contact or see him again. Yet, despite everything, he still walks with an air of authority, believing himself better than anyone else, like the child prodigy he always was. Even if his father could never be proud of him.
Lenodel travelled from the Big City to Neverspine. He worked under Ash for a while, before she fell into her depressive pit. Taking advantage of this, he throws his weight around like he is the boss, and Ash does nothing about it. Newer recruits even think he actually is the boss. Even though the other alchemists suffer from his arrogance, he is at least competent at his job.
