While Exploring The Fortress of Ends in the Southern Ice field with my scouting team, we fell into a snow-covered ravine. Out of our group of ten, only seven survived the long fall. After burying the dead and paying respect, our scouting leader tried to guide the group up and out of the crevice. But, one hundred meters up, there was an open cave, and we decided to take a rest. As the team filed in, the leader was huddled over something. I sensed something wrong about him as he studied it. As he turned around, he looked a little mad and mumbled, "This... is an ancient relic, how long has this been here? But I would have to do so much paperwork to show this to headquarters..." One of my co-workers next to me looked confused, and I had to agree, is this guy really thinking of lying to the company that funded our adventure?

The leader looked up at the seven of us, just realizing we were there, and sped-walked towards the artifact. "You are on your own, I'm sure you guys will die here, and even if you don't, you have no power to get me into trouble." As he grabbed the artifact, the cave rumbled, and large chunks of ice rained to block the entrance and killed two out of our remaining team of seven. It was just me, three of my co-workers, and the leader that just trapped us in here. We all had worried looks on our faces but the leader quickly recovered. "No matter, this artifact seems to be giving me great physical strength, I can easily dispatch you three." One of my co-workers, naturally better at fighting, leaped at the leader. However, they got tossed aside easily, like a hatchling swatting a fly. He slammed into the icy wall, breaking his wing, making the cave shake again, opening a wide crack in the back of the cave, and falling into it before he could recover. I ran to help him, but the leader grabbed me first. "How convenient, a hole to dispose of you with, well, off you go." He threw me into the hole, not without an aggressive punch from him, as he laughed on my way down. The last thing I saw of them was the other co-worker's face, terrified. "He doesn't have long to live," I thought.
When I came to, I couldn't bear to look what happened to my companion, he broke my fall. I glanced around to see the cave continuing on. Covered in blood, though I didn't know whose it was at the time, I began limping towards the other end of the long cave I dropped into. Eventually, I came to be in another chamber, similar to the one I was just in. Gentle snowfall was drifting from the roof onto an archway. The feeling I got wasn't evil, in fact, the room had nothing weird at all, minus the falling snow that came from the roof. It wouldn't stop either. I reached the archway and decided it was either the exit, or some trap. I took my chances and stepped into the archway. I gasped as I felt intense frostbite all over my body. I looked down, frantically rubbing myself to find that my dark scales are fading to lighter colors. My claws were extremely numb, and my wings felt like a hundred needles piercing me. I collapsed to the floor breathing heavily. As I was shuddering on the frozen ground, the archway filled with bright light. I closed my eyes.

*The camera audio picks up speech* Cursed: "Am I not going to receive a guest? Everyone else gets a welcome interview~" *silence, then an audible sigh* Cursed: "I didn't even put up a struggle when you found me... Is it what I said? Oh! I know, you got yourself one of those sweet fortune tellers; threw me under the bus. Ahaha, I can't be the worst one here~" Cursed: "Hmm~ Will you at least visit me sometime in the future? I believe I'll get a bit lonely, for however long i'm in here, and since it was a long walk to my confinement, I have a feeling that it will be quite a while... " *The voice gets fainter, subject backs away from the audio device* Cursed: "Even a voice from the camera works, anyway, i'll be waiting~" *No other sounds can be picked up besides a faint, distant humming for the next few hours* |
