About
Even though Nadine was born into nobility, she had many older siblings that would be in line for the throne far before she'd be even considered. Dissatisfied with the idea of being anything less, Nadine took a small group of soldiers and began travelling around the land as a sword for hire, slowly building her army along the way until the day she could conquer her own kingdom.
Hired by the king Hodr, ruler of Balram, she and her soldiers were to make a surprise attack in the middle of the night on the forces of Brimstone in order to weaken their defenses against the main attack on the city that'd arrive after sunrise. The attack went as planned and Nadine waited. As Hodr's forces approached and Nadine attempted to join them, they attacked, revealing their treachery. She and less than half of the soldiers managed to escape the massacre, and she vowed to get them back for this. Tariel, ruler of Brimstone, took advantage of this situation by tracking down Nadine and offering her to work for him instead, promising her a place at his castle in return. Aware of Tariel's lacking forces and his marital state, she renegotiated the deal into a marriage, securing him further allies from her side of the family, a chance to prevent the total destruction of his city and his own survival.
Needless to say, king Hodr regretted the day he decided to betray Nadine, staring her in the eye as he drew his last breath.
