Deep in the old part of Square Toe, there is a statue garden. It is very old; most of the sculptures have worn down to lumps of stone and the rest are are chipped and cracked. The recognizable statues are few and esoteric: a Snapper rearing on her hind legs, holding a trident beneath unrealistically-wide wings; a Pearlcatcher clutching a broken bowl, surrounded by a pile of smooth river rocks; a Nocturne that once must have been painted gold, but is now dull desert stone. Elisabuff is the caretaker of this little place. She sweeps up the leaves that accumulate despite there being no trees for miles around. She arranges the pretty stones and bits of plastic that dragons bring and leave around the statues. No matter what time you stop by, she's there with a smile on her beaked face and a slightly manic tinge to her manner. Despite being new in town, she talks as if she's known it for years, talking about how much things have changed and how she'll have to change her plans to fit. Though she walks across it every day, the only clawprints left in the garden's sand are left by visitors. Somehow, no one seems to notice. |

As a fellow artist, May is in love with the statue garden. She'll often spend time there just to sketch and talk with Elisabuff. She doesn't know the history behind any of the sculptures, and has asked Elisabuff before. It's not until later that she realizes she never gets an answer from her new friend. |
