Mal shares his consciousness with an unknown entity that was bound to
his helmet by powerful mages in a time long before the birth of written word.

Mal used to want to be an adventurer, and on one of his many quests for fame and fortune, he came across an old battleground in the wood. Long forgotten and covered in brambles and moss, buildings crumbling and ancient equipment scattered about, he bravely bound ahead to search for treasures. He stumbled across a beautiful helm, shining strangely in the light of the many glowshrooms dotting the gnarled landscape. He didn't know what possessed him to place it on his head that day, but he grew to regret it the moment he felt the sharp pain in his head and heard a soft hiss demanding to be freed.

Ferberus Skull

He didn't know that his prize had the spirit of a ruthless and efficient conqueror chained to it. As a consequence, magic keeps his body and soul frozen in time. He is unable to age or die by natural means, yet he would crumble to dust if he were forcefully separated from the helm. He's spent the last 400 years wandering the tangled wood, avoiding any living souls and fighting for his sanity as his thoughts are invaded and filled with the rage of the bloodthirsty warrior he's bound to. he's only elected to stay here with the umbral enclave in the hopes that one of the mages could find a way to free him from this hellish existence. if they cannot help him he must move on before they notice that he never sleeps, never dreams, never feels the ravishes of time like them...
