for duveteux's lyra

curious as could be, even back when
one could say i struggled to confide within
even that i couldn't hide my want to find
the fine line of my magic now and then

even when others, eyes of one to be kind
curiously watched me wander, paying no mind
yet i failed to hide my emotions upon finding a sign
watching as it wound with one, the one it was to bind

my mind filled with thoughts, ever so fine
these lines were ever so wild, not even mine
they seemed to be a finely strewn twine
for i finally found the great ley line

the room was bright and i smelt
so many smells dwelt
iron? steel? metal it was a metal
stepping closer, the heat that was dealt

yet i sat, thinking of a the petal
was it a rose? finally i settle
would i get to hear of his first trip
the child had already outgrown a kettle

i hoped i wouldn't slip
he was an important little blip
in my small bit of life, a big clip
so i thought, what of this little chip.

my scalpel, a smooth shiny tool
sitting, humming, slightly a fool
repositioning my various little things
each on its own unique jewel

laughing gently, folding my wings
my patient, complained about his stings
carefully explaining how to use clean them,
applying the cream to scales, hoping it clings

reminding another to get enough sleep for some REM
watching as my quiet day starts to stem
i couldnt help but chuckle softly, the hatchling clinging to the hem
its mother was one to softly hum, my day was a gem
