As the sun began to set on the horizon, slowly the flowers bloomed. Petals danced across the meadow, gently caressing her skin. She lifted her head up to the sky enjoying the beautiful and clear blue color. It was a bit of a pity, but she had to ruin those beautifully painted colors done by her sisters. She straightened her legs, arms reaching up above her as she stretched. Her wings unfurled from her back, gently fluttering as they lifted her off the flower field. Beyond her lay a vast lake where her sisters and brothers waited for her. She landed gracefully on top of the still waters, ripples spreading out from her foot had briefly touched. Her sisters and brothers tittered as she came, greeting her with smiles. She hated it. "Is everyone in place?" A melodious voice asked. "Yes Madam!" Came the chorus reply. The music began to play, voices reaching out and echoing out around them. It was such a beautiful song so pleasing to the ears. That is, all except hers. She hated the song that came out from her sisters and brothers' mouths. It only came as a painful reminder of her insecurities. |
Her body moved as the song began, gracefully gliding and dancing across the waters. Her face was in full concentration as she moved with her brethren. She could feel the magic rising around her as the voices rose higher. It hurt. It hurt to be reminded that she could no longer sing. No longer raise her voice to the magic. No longer be part of the troupe. As emotions swirled dangerously inside her, she could only grit her teeth and push through with the performance. Magic burst out from behind her painting the sky in purples, pinks, and oranges. The colors her dance made were vibrant and pure, leaving trails of shimmers as she moved. The madam watched as she danced, a small sad smile on her lips. It was the most beautiful sunset she had ever seen, and yet.....she turned away. The song was done and it was time to go home. Just like many times before, as soon as the song ended, it was time for Sunset to return home. Though the song was over, her heart still remained heavy. by lordqube |
