Thalassa came to the Clan when she was still quite young, accompanied by a small group of Longnecks. The beastclan had raised her from an abandoned egg, but seeing her grow, they had decided she belonged among her own. Gifted with powers of foresight, they had seen the Silence clan in their dreams and brought the young dragoness here.

The Clan soon learned that Thalassa had been sick when she was just newly hatched and had since lost the ability to speak. The Longneck had raised her to speak in gestures, but it took some time for her to learn how to translate these to the signs that the other mutes in the Clan used. Despite this, Thalassa soon found herself at home among dragons, and among others with her disability. She still misses her Longneck caretakers, and visits them from time to time, when her tasks are not too great or too important.

Thalassa is a seer. She sees past, future, and present in the stars above, and her predictions help the Clan foresee important events and changes. She tried for a while to get close to December, the Clan's other seer, hoping the older dragon would help strengthen her abilities; but the Pearlcatcher could promise nothing. She is a seer of the earth and the storm, while Thalassa is one of the stars and her dreams. But December told her not to despair, for she knew then that the young dragon had a gift. Although Thalassa can not herself foresee it, she is bound by the stars and the spirits of old, and she has greatness in her.
