Reeking like the bodies he likes to play with, and dressing in a manner meant to drive away rather than attract, Magiere is a repulsive figure to behold. Desecrating graves and looting bodies has earned him a criminal reputation, and so he found himself wandering among the forests of the Viridian Labyrinth, far from civilization, with the only experiment he would consider successful alongside him: Jiangshi, an undead Nocturne, and the mind-controlled puppet they kept, Laine.

The weird trio stumbled upon the injured, frantic, and grieving Darter in those dense jungles, and upon hearing her story, and mostly being bored of having no real direction or goal, Magiere agreed to help her in her... exciting mission: Getting revenge on a murderous Imperial.

Quickly they bonded, and to Magiere's confusion, and eventual delight, he found himself father to a good number of dragons. Slowly, he felt he was finding his place in the world.
